Onsen facilities had a great view and water temperature was on the hotter side. Make sure to have a soak in the morning and evening as they change the baths around at different times of the day. Nice stay if you want to try Tatami style room and want a good view of the lake.
Hot spring baths at Toya Kanko Hotel are located in a cave, or indoors and outdoors offering panoramic lake views.

Room was spacious and view was good.
Opposite there was a convenience store but most shops close around 5-6pm like a ghost town.
Staff were helpful and friendly. Onsen seems like a an old bathhouse.

Didn’t like it in late February. The only thing to do is go to the onsen, some of the hotels will grant you access for a small fee if you’re not staying there.
There is a boat tour (looks like a princess castle, sort of weird), pricey and so so boring, they don’t even go all around the lake and it doesn’t stop for you to step on the islands.
Overall, very sad town in February.

Taking a slow stroll along the lakeside with cooling breeze blowing towards you is refreshing and makes you feel so free.
A must visit to Mount Usu taking the cable car and walking along the Ropeway is scenic.
A short drive of about 10 minutes from Lake Toya there is a Little Farm that serves very good ice cream, coffee and pizza. Children loves the goats in this farm land.

Beautiful and scenic but you are not allowed to swim in the lake because it is a Unesco site. I was unable to Google this info so I'm sharing it here. It is 90 degrees here today so that sucks. They don't mind you dipping your feet but there are no swimming beaches. You can get wet if you are boating or on SUPboard. I probably would’ve toured another part of the country if I knew I couldn’t swim in the lake in the middle of an extremely hot summer. the south of like Toya is filled with Asian tourists. We enjoyed the quiet north side.

It was nice generally.
It was nice generally. It offers a great view if the weather is clear and not foggy. We were there on 30/12/23 it was winter, weather was cloudy foggy and snowing and we can’t see much. Anyway we enjoy strolling along the lake side with snowfall, feels so peaceful, romantic and beautiful. We went to Mt Usu by using the ropeway. We was at the crater unfortunately it was covered with a thick snow so we didn’t get what we want to see. If I happen to travel to Lake Toya again, I would like to try hiking.
Stayed four nights with dinner and breakfast. The setting is fantastic, right on the lake. Floor to ceiling windows in the room and throughout the hotel. Wonderful large bath, including nice outdoor one on the roof. Really nice hotel onsen. Fireworks every night right in front of the hotel. Food was very good. Even though a buffet, several dishes were excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Lake Toya is a wonderful place to get away and relax. Will definitely return!
We stayed here as part of our honeymoon and it was utterly fantastic. The views from the hotel & onsen were breathtaking, and the massages we had in the spa were very relaxing. We didn't realize breakfast and dinner were included; the food was fantastic and offered a tremendous variety.
This is clearly a very different hotel in warmer weather with a water park and activities for children, but was very relaxing and quiet in the winter.
This hotel is new, modern, clean and comfy! In room personal onsen with stunning view from the balcony. Excellent service from all staff.
Just to keep in mind that dinner included is buffet dinner rather than kaiseki dinner usually other onsen hotels offer, but regardless, the food at the buffet (dinner and breakfast) was so good and tasty!
Definitely recommend this hotel and hope to come back in the future!
The cabin is quant and well equipped with everything you need. We loved the chair in the living room for reading with the view of Lake Toya and the very cozy blankets. The hosts were great and even dropped off some fresh venison that their neighbors shared with them. It was a great location to walk into town for some lunch and then we were able to cook dinner at home. We loved our stay here
Onsen had lots of free creams to try, relatively clean, not super fanciful. Staff very helpful, polite. There was a washing machine and dryer in the ladies bath! Dated hotel but the prices were also the lowest in the region. Given that there were daily fireworks for 20mins (even after it had been raining!), it was a very welcome bonus to our stay.
The hotel room is big and without a lake view; blocked by other more expensive hotels located in front of Lake Toya. Nevertheless, it is a popular hotel due to the short walk to the Lake.
The Onsen facility is great and breakfast is also good. Great welcome drinks and snacks are provided to all Hotel guests.
Large hotel in a great location, very impressive throughout with excellent onsen built in which are available for free use to customers. The views from the rooftop onsen are amazing. Went for an onsen at 6am before check out and so glad I did. I wish I could have taken a camera but alas, of course I couldn't.
Small guesthouse run by a very friendly landlady. The premises were well heated so I wasn't cold at all even though it was a cold winter night. The landlady also provided discount coupons to the onsen at the hotel next to the guesthouse, which was fantastic. There're also many restaurants nearby.
The view from our room is probably one of the best in Lake Toya. Staff is very helpful and excellent. Onsen has exceptional view to the lake. Set course dinner is very delicious and fresh. We are very happy with our stay and will definitely come back here again.
I like the private onsen which have both the indoor and outdoor but i have to pay for it. Breakfast is average. The view from the room is great where lake is just 200m from you. The hotel is pricey.
One of the best choices for a great Lake Toya view and fireworks. The facility is clean, has good onsen, a free car park and is quite near to a pharmacy, convenience store and bus station.
Great little hostel at Lake Toya - super friendly staff who spoke English - and helped me plan day trips to the Cableway and a local onsen with coupons! thanks so much!
Daily fireworks at the lake was great! I like the open onsen under the chill air. The hotel was next to the lake, great for morning jog and evening stroll after dinner
