Miyako City Kintetsu Kyoto Station, hotel in Kyoto

Set within Kintetsu Kyoto Station, Kyoto, Miyako City Kintetsu Kyoto Station offers free WiFi throughout the property. The hotel is a 20-minute train ride and walk from Tofuku-ji Temple.

We were traveling by train from Osaka to Kyoto and on to Tokyo, so this was by far the most convenient for us. You access the hotel directly from the train station. For being right next to the trains you hardly hear them. There is a currency exchange machine in the lobby with a reasonable exchange rate. We did not have the breakfast - it didn't have a lot of western-style options for our picky children.

So much to see and do in Kyoto, I particularly liked Arashiyama. It is easy to get around using buses or trains , a good base to go to Bamboo forest , torri gates , philosophers walk numerous shrines & temples , romantic train , so much. Lots of shopping & eating too.

It was super crowded and expensive.

It was super crowded and expensive. Kyoto is a very narrow city and I think it was an overrated place because it has a lot of cultural and historical things. However, the city just focuses on tourism and it seems you need to spend an unnecessary budget for everything such as food and hotels.

So much to see, do and eat!!! Go there. Just realise lots of other people go there too. Be patient or plan ahead to arrive earlier or late to popular sites. If you are in a crowd, walk a bit further and you will find the crowd thins.

Kyoto is a beautiful and quaint town. Plenty to see & do. We stayed for 5 nights plus 1 night and did not cover it all. Leaving with a heavy heart, with a resolve to go back again. The General Hotel Kyoto is very well located for interesting izakayas, bars, ramin places & nicer restaurants. It's close to the main street for higher-end shopping too.

I really enjoyed my stay at Webase Kyoto.

I really enjoyed my stay at Webase Kyoto. What really makes this place special is the staff. They are super friendly and really want to help you get what ever answers your help you need. They repeatedly went above and beyond. Even if they had to us a translator app to assist inthe communication. The room was small but clean and the facility very clean an comfortable. Added bonus to get a free snack in the morning and ramen at night. Thanks for a great stay!

So many beautiful locations, the only problem was too many dumb tourists! But I was there in Blossom season, so it's to be expected. If you can, visit a major temple by 8am, it makes a big difference to be there before the worst crowds. Then after a break, you can go to a park, shopping or one of the less famous temples etc in the afternoon. Nijo-jo Castle absolutely stunning. Also smaller places, like Kyoto Museum of Crafts and Design. Exquisite! And hardly any others there. Wear good pairs of socks, for locations when shoes must be removed.

The staff was very friendly and did their best to meet any request with a more than satisfactory answer. We truly recommend taking the half-board option as every meal (breakfast or dinner) was as amazing as it was delicious. The true Ryokan experience also with our futons which were laid down by the staff while we were eating dinner in the hotel restaurant and these futons were put away while we were having breakfast. Really amazing Ryokan, notwithstanding the short distance from Kyoto Station, Higashi-Honganji temple and its garden.

Staffs were friendly and check-in instructions were clear, do note that if you are checking-in before the check-in time, luggages needs to be stored in the guest centre near kyoto station instead. But there's a free luggage delivery service to the hotel from the guest centre. Rooms were spotless clean and comfortable. Good size as well. It's super convenient to have a washer, dryer in the toilet is just the best thing. All clothes gets dried in a matter of hours. There are also several 24 hours convenience stores around as well.

Firstly I loved the look and feel of this hotel, it felt very traditional and true to the Kyoto area with a modern twist. The onsen (traditional hot spring pool) was amazing and felt like a luxury which many other more expensive hotels don’t have. The room although simple was lovely (although it felt a bit smaller than the pictures). Breakfast was good (but not the best we had compared to the hotels we stayed in Japan). Finally the location was perfect, just minutes away from the Gion district and many restaurants and temples.

It was better than we expected. The room was large enough for two people, comfortable beds. I really liked the way from the entrance to the main door - you have the red carpet every day =) Special thanks to the staff, very nice people. Hot bath (onsen) will help you after long walks, it was one of the best things in this hotel. And the location! Just 10 min walk from the Central Station. To get the center of the city you can use buses or make 25 minutes walk. Strongly recommended.

This was the best hostel I have ever stayed at (and I've probably stayed at over 5 hostels lol). The location was very central. 5 min walk to stores, 10 min walk to Gion, 2 to get to Sanjo station. The elevator goes straight down to Sanjo station. The location is secure. Mostly accessable by key card. The facilities are clean and inviting. The place is very cute! My sister and I got our own room, and the third bed was used for luggage. For the price, it was very worth it.

This was a fantastic hotel, one of the best I’ve stayed in. The foyer and rooms are beautiful. The room was big by Japanese standards. The staff were very accommodating, friendly and spoke multiple languages, including English. The location was perfect, within minutes from the train station, next door to a shopping mall with great restaurants and a block away from a beautiful temple.

Loved the customer service! Location was perfect for us: at walking distance from train station (15min), from city center (20min), from old town (30min). There is also underground stops at just 5 and 10min walk from the hotel. Although the best thing was the breakfast! It wasn't extensive but this made it easy and quick to grab and was actually very complete, with great quality food

Excellent excellent hotel. The facilities were clean, staff was wonderful. This was the best of the 4 hotels I booked during my trip in Japan. It was close to the main station as well as many other bus and subway stations. In a perfect part of town. Beds were comfy, the room had a lot of natural light, and a large bathroom - something which is quite rare in Japan it seems

This hotel’s location next to the station is a huge bonus. The amenities are average, but personally, I’d rate it higher due to the exceptionally comfortable sleep setting. The pillows and bed are probably the best I’ve experienced in Japan. I had the best sleep on my last day before departing Japan.
