The location. Central and accessible to most area around town.
Staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are big and super clean. The accommodation is quite traditional Japan type. We enjoyed our stay.

Dinner and breakfast buffet was pretty good with snow crab buffet for dinner during the winter. We were spoilt for choices but found that the desserts were the real deal and it was all so delicious. Overall, the meals were acceptable for buffets and we would have it again if we have to. Highlight of the stay would definitely be the onsen for my family, as they switch both male and female bath house the next morning. Entrance to the onsen were beautiful as well. We also enjoyed ourselves in the game room as there were quite a few games including mario racekart which me and my wife had a superb time at.

The vibes of the place. Very pretty place overall. Waterfall sound next to room. Big suite. Worth the price.
Service is good, staff tried their best to communicate with limited english.
Local tour bus service drops directly outside of building so no worries about transport.

Aizu is a perfect spot for a 2-3 day trip.
Aizu is a perfect spot for a 2-3 day trip. I liked particularly the castle, which is just gorgeous now in winter. And I bet it is beautiful also in other seasons as well. On top of that I enjoyed other attractions too.

This is a great place, and all the sites are in a roughly 10 kilometer circle from the station. I put my suitcase in a locker at the station for the day, then rented a bicycle for ¥500 from a shop 800 meters from the station. (Turn right at the street in front of the station. The shop is on the left 800 meters down.)
I realized later that there is a tourist bus that stops at all the sites and has a running commentary on where you are. That would have been more practical for me. The bus costs ¥600 yen for a day pass, which can be bought at the bus station in front of the train station.

Aizu Wakamatsu is a nice place.
Aizu Wakamatsu is a nice place. It’s not very touristy but the tourist bus is a great way to get around and see all the main sights. One day wasn’t long enough. I think two days would be sufficient. There weren’t many restaurants open during lunchtime

Very short visit prior to a ski week.
Very short visit prior to a ski week. It is conveniently located and easily accessible via trains or buses. The city isn't too big and explorable on foot. Locals are very friendly and helpful. We had such a wonderful time at a local Izakaya even with our little Japanese. We were recommended a few dishes and they were all so delicious.

Loved Tsuruga Castle (Teahouse garden ticket does not include tea drink) and Sazaedo Temple (escalator ramp is worth it). Oyakuen Gardens is not worth the entrance fee during late fall and winter (herb garden is dead). A Ryokan and onsen experience is a must at Aizuwakamatsu (Shosuke no Yado Takinoyu was awesome). Also made our own Akabeko (red cow) at Akabeko Maker Bandokoro. All in all, a wonderful 1 night trip to get away from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo traffic. P.S. Try a full size order of Sauce Katsudon at Medetaiya (I dare you).

Aizu is a town filled with rich history as a prominent Japanese political figure once lived here. Those who like ancient Japanese history should check out the castle, the graves of the brave warriors, to learn about what took place in this town during the Warring State period of ancient Japan.
Super friendly and helpful staff, huge and super clean room.
Great location directly in the center of the city.
Own free parking space 50 meters from the hotel.
Very comfortable beds, spacious room.
Restaurants directly near the hotel, vending machines for ramen and drinks in the hotel. Washing machines/ dryers on the first floor, next to seating area.
A small seating area in the entrance.
The whole place has character and tradition and we felt welcome and at home the moment we entered. All for a very reasonable price.
The staff were extremely helpful - the free shuttle service was very convenient, and on one day when we were walking back to the hotel in the rain the driver recognised us and stopped to pick us up! The food was delicious with a great range of choice, the onsen was beautiful, the location was great. Just a great stay! The room was a little smaller than I expected, but very comfortable with everything we needed.
We had an incredible stay at Tagoto! The staff were kind and friendly and it felt like coming home instead of just to a hotel.
The bath was amazing and so clean, we loved our baths very much.
Breakfast was always incredible, it made me so excited to get up in the morning (which normally isn't that case) just to eat their delicious cooking!
If we ever come back to Japan we would love to stay here again
Very nice and peaceful hotel. The staffs are helpful and are with great hospitality. The breakfast and dinner was very amazing. The onsen are very private. I rent a car. There are a lot of parking lots provided free of charges, but locate a bit towards the hill (not at the hotel lobby/front). You may need to temporary park a car at the hotel lobby to unload the luggage or let someone to check in first.
Although the bathroom was small - not untypical in Japanese hotel chains - the room was of a perfectly adequate size, and clean and comfortable. A high floor affords views of the mountains on a clear day. The buffet breakfast was good, with different options on different days, and staff were efficient, friendly and helpful.
There are three different onsens to enjoy and two additional ones are available at the sister hotel located at 4 minute walk. Dinner was a great deal compared to the other ryokans where I paid much more. Breakfast buffet had a plenty of different selections.
Love everything in the hotel. The room and facilities are great. The traditional Japanese food (breakfast and dinner) was fabulous and good taste. Easy to access by car with comfortable parking and transfer service between hotel and parking lot.
The hotel is located near the rail station. There are 7-11’s and Family Mart stores close by for ATMs. Be sure to have cash on hand for the temple entrance fees and restaurants. The staff were courteous and efficient. The hotel is clean.
I liked that I could book a private bath. Breakfast was also delicious. Our room was big and comfortable. Ah, and we were given yukata and we were also encouraged to wear them inside the hotel. All in all a great experience.
15 mins walk from Aizuwakamatsu station. Very accessible if you have a car with you. Very good value if you go on off-season (early August because it was blazing hot). Amazing, authentic Japanese food. Large rooms.
A nice place to stay while you discover the Samurai City Aizu-Wakamatsu
The hotel is close to the Train Station and the Bus Station.
The staff are nice.
The room is tidy and clean.
The breakfast is quite good.
Loved this hotel, so clean and comfortable. Wonderful staff who were helpful and patient with my bad translation use (my bad). Fabulous onsen, beautiful Japanese style room. I wished I had more time to stay
The staff (from Hotel Shousuke no Yado Takinoyu who are also in charge of Yukkura Inn) are really helpful but only a few of them speak English.
Possibility of borrowing a bike for free;
wonderful onsens
Breakfast is excellent. So many type and variety of food. nice display and service. Onsen on 10 floor is nice and less crowded ( specially in the morning) than other hotels.
it was authentic delicious beautiful and comfortable; hoteliers were responsive with questions or requests; dinner and breakfast were beautiful and exceptional
