Our host was incredibly welcoming, and the room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was hearty. All-in-all it is a great place to stay for hikers/walkers, which is what we were going.

I cannot thank Patrizia and her family enough for the kindness and hospitality shown to me during my recent visit to the Edelweiss Hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for this lovely family who bent over backwards to ensure that I felt totally valued from the moment I arrived until the moment I left.
My room was spotless and very comfortable with an ensuite bathroom, a fridge, toiletries and even slippers for my comfort. I received a delicious and hearty breakfast each morning which really set me up for the day.
I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this hotel and will certainly be returning again in the future.
Thank you very much for making me feel so welcome .
Rotonda would have been a far better base for hiking.
Rotonda would have been a far better base for hiking. We wanted to be in nature in an antico borgo but nothing in Viggianello seemed to be open other than 1 x tiny bar, the pharmacy and 1 x local shop. Rotonda is very attractive indeed and extremely friendly - we spent all of our non-hiking time in this locale. There are even 2 x museums.

Viggianello is a beautifully serene, friendly and laid back...
Viggianello is a beautifully serene, friendly and laid back hill town - the real Italia, and a great base from which to see the sights of the Pollino NP. Not really on the tourist map - so if you are after busy nightlife, maybe not for you. ..... not to say there aren't some excellent restaurants and barre in town and nearby! We absolutely loved it.

The small village of Viggianello itself doesn't offer much.
The small village of Viggianello itself doesn't offer much. The real gem is the nearby Parco del Pollino which has wonderful forests for hiking and plenty of streams for rafting and canyoning. As it is still little known it is wild and unspoilt.
