Tirano was a lovely little town. Quaint streets and alleyways called to be explored. Unfortunately very poor communication about no train service meant we missed connecting trains which cost us additional money.

We enjoyed wandering around the older parts of town. The cathedral was beautiful and open to view inside. The entire town is walkable, no need to hire a car. There was a variety of places to eat and drink. The location of the train station made it easy to come and go.

Tirano is a very nice town.
Tirano is a very nice town. It is very well connected with other parts of Italy by train. Also, the main attraction is the Bernina Express, which departs hourly from the Swiss Train Station, which is opposite the TrenItalia train station. I would recommend a day in Tirano, to get to know the town.

What a gorgeous little town right by the rushing river.
What a gorgeous little town right by the rushing river. Fascinating buildings and great food ( had a great pizza at LETI DI PILONI AXEL by the station. Only stayed overnight after coming from Chur on the Bernina line then on to Rome but could easily have spent a week here. Everything walkable.

Lovely town in the valley, surrounded by beautiful wooded mountains. The old town is great and the connection to the Rhaetian Railway and the beautiful Bernina line are not to be missed!

It was a beautiful experience.
We stayed at Ostello del Castello and had three wonderful nights at one of the most kindness hosts Andrea we have ever meet, really nice ;-)
The hosts of the property were very nice. The property is situated close to the border of italy switzerland and is an ideal spot if you want to take Bernina Express. The breakfast in this hotel was decent (croissants, muffins, boiled eggs, cheese, chicken salami /turkey salami, juices, coffee, tea). The check in time is until 10pm but the hotel staff made an exception for us and let us check in at around 11:40pm. The room we got also had a very nice patio and we loved our morning tea in it.
This hotel is a 10 minute walk from the train station. As you arrive on foot you walk through beautiful cobble old streets. The hotel is a renovated old building full of character. Rooms are big and comfortably styled with minimal style and smell like a wood cabin which is divine. There is a real focus on recycling and preserving, which we really thought was amazing. Breakfast was one of the best breakfasts. I wish we didn’t have to leave so early fii oh r the train!
We could not be more pleased with our staty at this apartment. It had a great location very close to the train station and also great facilities as a well-equipped kitchen, Nespresso machine, washing machine, tv with Netflix and much more. It was also very clean and the presentation of linnen, towels, soap etc gave a hotel-like feeling. The host was very kind and helpful with everything. If ever getting back to Tirano, this will be our first hand choice.
We had the cutest room with a nice little balcony overlooking the main street. The hotel was just a half a block from the train station. The restaurant next door helped with check ins, there was no check in desk at the hotel. We were able to store our luggage at the restaurant until it was time to check in. The location was perfect and the room was clean.
Amazing views of mountains from every window. Good home comfort. Nice little extras like snacks, juice & condiments. Generosity of spirit from the host. Walkable from the station and 5 minutes to the main piazza with bars, shops and restaurants. Even reserved a table for dinner for me up the mountain with amazing views overlooking Tirano.
Wow!!! Totally shocked by the quality of this 'budget' hotel. I was Not expecting such a modern spa-like room. I had a balcony even! Tirano was a nice lively change after being in subdued Switzerland. Perfect stop after riding the Bernina Express. The pics are all from my room not the lobby.
Room themes are innovative. also room size compared to a lot of Italien hotel room was plenty big for two persons. Because the studios belong to nearby Hotel Bernina the breakfast is taken in Hotel and was incredibly good range on offer to compare with other Italien stays!
We were greeted at the train station and brought to the apartment with a full tour! They had juices in the fridge for our 3 kids and tea and coffee for the adults. All the beds were comfortable and the location was perfect after our long train ride through the Alps.

A good hotel right next to the station with lovely views of the square in Tirano and beyond. the room was modern and clean with everything you need. There was no bath but it had an excellent modern shower.
A modern minimalis style apartment, very close to Tirano station and Bernina station. Complete amenities from kitchen utensil, coffee maker, washing machine, fridge, hair dryer etc.

Breakfast starts at 7:00 so if You plan to take first Bernina Express in the morning (7:40) there's enough time to eat - train station is 3 minutes of walk away from the hotel.
