Be very careful in Foggia station as you walk out, loads of not so good people waiting for tourists to victimize. Be careful with your belongings, my bag was stolen in split seconds. Avoid going there at night, outside the station is not a well lit road.
Bus going to San Giovanni is everyday and every hour.
Basilica of Padre Pio Pietrelchina is worth visiting. It is sacred, clean and really beautiful.

I love SGR. This is my fourth visit, and I never tire of it.
I love SGR. This is my fourth visit, and I never tire of it. The “new” church however, is hideous. The Adoration Chapel and Shrine with Pio’s body are beautiful, but the building itself is poorly label (as per directions), dead-ends all over the place, and the main church itself is beyond ugly. But, as my friend tells me, when I ask him how Mass was, he says, “Jesus showed up.” And that He did!

The highlight is San Giovanni Rotondo was the shrine to Padre Pio. I thought that San Giovanni Rotondo, was a going to be a little dusty town, but it's anything but. It's quite modern with new housing/apartments built all around town. There's even a small mall there if you need last minute clothing or toiletries. San Giovanni Rotondo has everything you need, including the "Padre Pio Hospital" across the street from the sanctuary, which I had to go to the ER because I sprained my knee. I was treated well there.

We were there as pilgrims.
We were there as pilgrims. Bus connections to Foggia everyday and hourly (on Sunday might be reduced). Buses to other areas, suburbs and towns. Some buses to other towns were inexistent on Sunday. A au flambeau on Saturday at pm. Few shops around (except for souvenirs). restaurants/caffes apart from those provided by hotels. Bus service to town centre which may be free to tourists. We enjoyed our stay in prayers and meditation mostly. When we travelled to Monte Sant'Angelo, the bus drops you near the Sanctuary. Wonderful town, views and more. Will definitely stay overnight next time

This is a lovely hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. We had a great AC – something you don't always have in Italy. It was in close walking distance to Padre Pio's sanctuary. The breakfast was great. The restaurant was available for lunch and dinner as well. We are there on one occasion and it was good. And the staff were very friendly - the service staff at the restaurant was excellent. I would return to this location. We had a great visit and enjoyed seeing the sights as well as in Saint Michael the arc angels location.
Location was great, breakfast was okay for a small charge. Free shuttle to the Shrine of St Padre Pio. It's a 3 star hotel but with a 5 star treatment. The shuttle driver is the owner of the hotel, Don Leonardo. He's very humble and down to earth person. He doesn't speak that much english but he tries to show the beautiful scenery of San Giovanni Rotondo.
The hotel is in a good location with great facilities. There is a Pizzeria on site which is excellent. The staff are very helpful. There is lots of sitting areas in lobby an on-site bar-although it’s limited in what it offers. There’s also an exercise room with just one running machine. Breakfast is ok with some choice.
Thank you so much for the lovely stay I had at B&B Villa Siria. Owners are very kind and helpful with all my queries. Very close to Padre Pio Shrine, just 3 minutes walk down Via Maria Giuseppa de Nunzio. Googlemap showed a longer way but I have found B&B it is actually 3 minutes down the road.

The communication with the owners was fantastic. They were very responsive. It's a family run unit. They seemed very humble like Padre Pio. Their son Ivan (or Evan) was home on vacation and made sure our needs were fully met.
Location is good and close to the main church. there is a steep climb to reach the place but the hotel as a little shuttle.

The hotel has an incredibly well designed and laid out interior floor plan. Staff were accommodating and helpful. breakfast was diverse and high quality. Secure parking was readily available and convenient.
hotel was average. i did not know that there are more hotels much nearer to the sanctuary so i booked this. nothing special. had i known that there are more options, i would not have booked this.
