The apartment was perfectly placed for the old town and shops, bars and restaurants and just a few (steep) steps from the railway station. I went there for the Festival weekend so the town was far livelier than it normally would be. Pontassieve is a typical Italian rural town but being just a 20 minute train journey from Florence, cost €3.90, it's a perfect place to enjoy all the sights of that historical city without having to endure the madness there.
Dining out is more of a challenge than in larger towns and cities, as you would expect, but perfectly adequate for a tasty lunch or evening pizza. Very good value for money too.

The apartment was ideally situated with the train station in walking distance and plenty of interesting shops to explore nearby. Our host was incredibly responsive and accommodating (thanks Alessio) and the apartment itself was well equipped with everything you might need. Especially for cooking with the amazing Italian produce we found within 5-10 mins walk. Out of our entire European trip, I’m pretty sure I had my best sleeps here! We had small children with us and they were very happy with the night-light that projected various constellations on their room’s ceiling.

Highly recommend Lili if you visit Tuscany. It's the cleanest holiday apartment I have experienced until now. You will find warmly and helpful tips everywhere in the house. And the holder is so nice, warm heart & thoughtful! Helped us to find a free parking place nearby (cus the parking area incl. on–street parking in front of the house is occasionally blocked for renovation). She sent lots of fotos which were taken by herself and marked concretely where is the parking places. As well as helped us to fix the problem of lacking heated shower water even though it was caused by our mistake.

We arrived up the mountain late in the evening after visiting Florence. Linda welcomed us with a warm smile and made us feel at home right away. Because of the rain, we had no idea in what wonderful place we ended up in. The next morning we woke up to amazing far reaching views of the Tuscan countryside. In the common washing room we could use the washing machine for free. In the evening when we got back from our daily city trip we were welcomed with a tasty homemade traditional meal. Paula, the restaurant hostess accompanied this meal with inside stories about the history of this family run farmb&b and the area. Meanwhile Linda left some wood for the stove to make the cosy mountaintop experience complete. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back again. Thank you Linda and the rest of the team for this amazing experience. 👏

Pontassieve is an ideal place to stay to escape the hustle and bustle of Florence.
With a short train ride to Florence, you get the benefit of having access to Florence without the constant presence of a zillion tourists.
It is also a good stepping stone into Bologna and Siena.
The 'Big Bang'/top of building suite at the top was spectacular. The room was beautiful with a fab view. The in-house hotel/villa food was more than acceptable and we ate their twice during our 4 day stay. This was partially because going into Pontassieve, parking, then going into Florence wasn't the most economical way of doing this. Luckily their food is fantastic.
The bed was more than fine, the view, as mentioned, was great.
Great location, outside of Florence but with the train station at 3 minutes driving.
The house was a big cottage - what a nice change comparing it to a city's flat appartment or hotel room. My kids loved it and so did we.
The guest was very helpfull
Fantastic host, comfy bed, historic building just 40 mins from Firenze. Lovely little town with plenty of places to eat and enjoy. The tortoise in the garden and the wood fired grill were added bonuses.
