The cappuccinos were delicious and the staff were amazing. So friendly and helpful. We weren’t expecting 5 star but it was such good value for the price.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at a beautifully restored hotel in the heart of Grosetto. Known to us as the “old lady,” this historic gem was built in 1912 and combines classic elegance with all the modern amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Every corner of the hotel exudes character, from the thoughtfully selected art pieces that grace the walls to the beautiful wooden furnishings that give a warm, timeless feel.
The location couldn’t be more ideal. Just outside the front doors, you’ll find yourself amidst a vibrant selection of restaurants, bars, and shops, making it the perfect base for exploring the town. Despite being centrally located, parking was surprisingly easy—there’s a convenient lot right outside the Roman Mural, only 100 metres from the hotel.
A special shout-out to Mrs. Lorena, who went above and beyond each morning at breakfast. Her kindness and attentiveness added to the welcoming atmosphere. The breakfast itself was a delightful spread, catering to all tastes and dietary preferences. I had the best scrambled eggs ever!
For those who appreciate the charm of historic design, artistic touches, and the convenience of modern comforts, this hotel is an exceptional choice. Highly recommended!

Offside parking for my van, which I loved. Rooms were lovely and clean and large. Host was personable, with some breakfast options thrown in, free. Great pizza next door. Quiet, comfy, off the beaten track. Wish all my experiences could be like this.

Nice clean private room in the countryside. You can use fridge, coffee machine, kitchen utensils. Very tasty breakfast. We had just a sleepover but I can imagine staying here for few more days and explore Tuscany :-)
Really nice staff but they don't speak English, we don't speak Italian so the communication was kept via translator and by hands :-)

We chose Grosseto as a starting point to visit few places in Toscana by car. For this purpose, city was ok.
Grossetto itself inside the walls of the old town is ok, Piazza Dante deserves a visit. Not so much to do but ok, especially for the restaurants nearby (we have been at:
Il Melograno - tasty
Il Tagliapasta Grosseto - awesome
Locanda de' Medici Grosseto - awesome).
Just outside the old town walls, Grosseto is a quite neglegted and unkept city, which is a real pity.

Grosseto is a beautiful walled city.
Grosseto is a beautiful walled city. You get a real feel for local life there. And there are many great places to wander and get food and wine. I especially loved walking around the city walls, and looking at the variety of architecture. It's also a perfect base for exploring the maremma national park nearby. Which I highly recommend if you love nature. We enjoyed exploring the supermarkets too, and buying local produce to cook meals. And tried the local chianti too. Super.

The old town in Grosseto had some charm, but on a Sunday there were no people and everything was closed. They were all at the beach. The rest of the city was not so much to see. So stay a night passing through the area, and choose other days than Sundays.

Grosseto is a quiet jewel of a town far from the American tourist trade. It has all the comforts of a small town with a train station, bus connections and great taxi service. You can walk the city streets or the great wall in the day time and see the happy people enjoying life. At night, you see the street restaurants filled with people enjoying the offerings of food cooked by experts. The Duomo bell counts the hours giving comfort to your ears. Grosseto is a small jewel in the crown of Italy. It is not far from the maddening rush of Rome nor far from busy Florence. This is the place to rejuvenate and to experience the quiet beauty of Italy.
