La Locanda Del Pontefice - Luxury Country House, hotel in Castel Gandolfo

La Locanda Del Pontefice - Luxury Country House overlooks Castel Gandolfo's lake and the Roman countryside. Just 8 km from Ciampino Airport, it offers accommodation with LCD TVs and internet access.

The room assigned was really far from pictures. Below car parking, it has no windows at all. Unpleasant and unacceptable from a self-defined Luxury hotel.

Hotel Castel Vecchio, hotel in Castel Gandolfo

Hotel Castel Vecchio has a stunning position directly above Lake Albano, just a 5-minute walk from the historical centre of Castel Gandolfo, and 300 metres from Villa Barberini.

We have stayed here before. There was a really good continental breakfast option with good coffee and juice options. The mini fridge was well stocked and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly!

Lovely and quiet atmosphere, amazing views (especially in the morning during breakfast), we loved that we had two rooms joined together so it was perfect for us. Nice place to stay out of Rome, but not too far (about 40 min by car to the centre). Close to nature, Albano lake is within the half an hour walk down the hill. There is access to the beach with a restaurant and a bar (and a parking lot) where you can rent a chair. Parking can be little tricky in this town with narrow streets. Some wide cars might not fit the most narrow streets which are also one-way. Ciampino airport is 25 min away by car. Also reachable by train

Castel Gandolfo is a beautiful town.

Castel Gandolfo is a beautiful town. The Pope's palace isn't much to see inside but it has miles of gorgeous gardens and views. The pine trees are some of the healthiest I have seen in Italy. The food is amazing. We frequented La Papessa and Pagnanelli - we'd go back just to eat some more.

A lovely, classic Italian Hotel in an ideal location with fabulous views and lovely interiors. The main terrace has wonderful views over lake Albano and is a lovely place to relax. The Hotel has two small pools, one in the same space as the breakfast area! and the other on the roof terrace.

It's a very small place and the area is very hilly. Not recommended if you want to spend a lot of time wandering around the area. However, we found it very clean and peaceful. Restaurants are very good and a wide choice of food is available considering it is so small.

It is a small town but we’ve done all the biggies and wanted a smaller town. Lots of restaurants for a small town but that’s probably because of the day trippers from Rome. Also Romans go there on weekends to escape the crowds of the city, especially this year because there are so many more tourists according to the locals and the food is really good. Some restaurants you might want to consider, Sor Capanna, great pizza, and pasta with boar sauce. Cumin Arte, they offer other things but this is definitely seafood oriented, great mussels and seafood options. Hosteria Fraschetta, we ate there a couple of times, the food is that good, a little bright inside but everyone was enjoying themselves one cool, rainy night. All of the above also have outdoor seating.

Location is brilliant, with clean and spacious apartment.

Location is brilliant, with clean and spacious apartment. Breakfast is not good. A lot of food is brought to the table however it’s cheap produce, eggs are scrambled, juice is orange squash with water and sausage is what I feed to my dog. Less is more change eggs to boiled, orange juice make sure it’s freshly squeezed, fresh tomatoes would be good plus milk, water, yoghurt and some chia seeds to start the day which would make the hotel stand out when compared to many others in Italy that seem to be all forgetting the importance of a healthy breakfast to start the day and best way to compliment the stay at the hotel which is equally important to having clean sheets and a comfortable bed to sleep on.

We stayed in the two bedroom apartment, which had a wonderful view of the lake. The apartment was a short walk to the main streets of Castel Gandolfo (it’s separate from the main Atlantis Inn building). The bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious and updated wonderfully. The apartment was cleaned daily by staff. Internet is great. We did not have to use AC/heat. Good sound insulation when windows are closed.

There is an amazing terrace, the view is breathtaking. The house is spacious and has everything you need. In Castel Gandolfo there is always a nice cool breeze even when the places around (Rome especially) are boiling hot. The house is right in the centre of Castel Gandolfo, plenty of nice restaurants on your doorstep. We loved everything about this house and we will come back.

I arrived exhausted from a long days hike. In that sense the location was fine. I was offered a bottle of water only after asking for it. The view from the room was nothing short of spectacular. However, no coffee, nothing. I ordered a take away from across the road. The hotel does not offer breakfast.

The view and location of the hotel was absolutely excellent. We were tucked up away and felt very much in our own little world. The restaurant was of one the more imaginitive and delicious meals we had on our trip. Would very much like to stay here again if we are ever back in Castel Gandolfo.

The location is great, in the main street of a small very old hilltop town. Therefore there many eateries and also walks to do, plus if you're interested there is the lake. It's a peaceful retreat from busy Rome, but only 2.10euro for the train into Rome.

The views across the lake are panoramic and splendid - but the hotel is high and unfortunately for us it was very windy on our stay. Quirky! Great room size and attentive staff - when visible!
