Amazing views, and it’s a very relaxing place to be.
Cala Ganone is a lovely hamlet by the sea. Lots of opportunities for water sports, boating, swimming, hiking, snorkeling, etc. There were families vacationing in the area, and the atmosphere was bright and happy. Plenty of options for dining. A wonderful place.

It is a beautiful location. Great beaches.
It is a beautiful location. Great beaches. But, there isn't much to see at Cala Gonone. There are a few restaurants and souvenir shops. There is a port where you can get excursions to lots of beaches/go scuba diving.
It was the one place out of 4 where we got bitten the most.
If you aren't going on a boat trip then you will have seen everything in an hour. So to see anything else you need to drive back up the long switchback road to Dorgali to choose somewhere else to visit.

Not sure it would suit people with young children as apart from a boat trip to the caves and to other beaches there is not a lot for them to do but a nice spot for the slightly older traveller as resort is quite quiet.

Beware the walk to Cala Luna - ignore the guide book - this is a very tough walk, but worth it if you're young and fit. Walk one way and get the boat back.

Even the town is small, but there are a lot of outdoor program, like boating to the different Cala's, small beaches, which could be accessible only from the sea, by boat.
I strongly recommend to visit Grotta di Bue Marino, a roughly 1 km long cave, with English and Italian language guide.
In the town there is a very interesting Aquarium too.
You may find everywhere good restaurants, bars.
We felt ourselves in the Paradise.
The hotel is located in the upper corner of Gala Gonone with a great view over the Gulf. The hotel provided everything we needed and even organized the boar rental for us. On request they prepared a tasty lunchbox. The stuff was super friendly and helpful. Especially the two women at the reception performed outstandingly and made us happy.
Our 5 day stay in Casa Franziska was very pleasant from first moments until the very end.
Everything was nice and clean and Francesca (the host) was very hospitable, prepared some cakes and drinks for us and also offered Sardinian liquor. She also gave us many contacts and tips for local activities.
Thank you so much Francesca!
The staff were exceptional. Super friendly, extremely helpful, and always happy and smiling. They truely made our stay. The property was in a great spot with ample parking. It has a fabulous pool which is certainly needed in the heat of Sardinia.
This was one of our favorite stays on Sardinia. The 'la torta' sir was one of the nicest people we've met. He made us feel at home. Breakfast was good. The room was clean, new and well designed. The location is beautiful!
Breakfast was excellent, good variety of choices and lots of Sardinian options. The staff were fabulous, in particular Lucia. She was so very helpful in organising our stay and the boat excursion.
