Lombardy’s Best Kept Secret
Affluent Brescia is an industrial hub whose Roman and medieval monuments are relatively undiscovered. Its strategic location in the foothills of the Alps and midway between Lake Garda and Lake Iseo was coveted by invaders, and during efforts to ward off the Austrians it earned the nickname of the Lioness of Italy.
Brescia’s oldest landmarks are the Capitolium, overlooking the former Forum, and the Roman theatre remains. Artefacts found on both sites are displayed in the city museum in St Julia’s Monastery alongside remains of 2 Roman houses with their original mosaics, murals and underfloor heating.
The Broletto was the medieval town hall and it shares a large, cobbled square with the round Old Cathedral (or Rotonda) which is partly below current street level. Between them is the New Cathedral, begun in the 17th century. Piazza della Loggia is dominated by the Loggia itself and at the opposite end is a porticoed walkway housing shops and cafes.
Overlooking this from a hill is Brescia Castle whose ramparts offer views towards the lush Franciacorta wine-growing region. To the east is Sant'Eufemia della Fonte Monastery, home of the Mille Miglia Museum commemorating the iconic motorsport race which started here.
Booking.com’s accommodation options include luxury hotels, cheap apartments by the train station and B&Bs near Brescia Airport.

Brescia is a magnificent city -- very walkable through the historic centre and UNESCO world heritage site, fabulous architecture -- from Roman ruins through medieval to Renaissance, 19th century and 20th century deco buildings. The main museum is outstanding, shopping areas under porticos are fabulous, and the centre is bustling with beautiful plazas and squares, and fabulous restaurants and bars. A unique experience is the elegant restaurant, Antico Beccaria.

Brescia is not a small town but like big other big cities in Italy it is not the same as in the past. It is calm although full of foreign people, has a beautiful ancient centre and cathedral and one can make a walk for 2-3 hours and one lunch or coffee. There is a faculty of economy of Brescia and so students and the city is not dead. As you know the students drive economy and keep economy live, so the town is better than cities like Trento, Parma, Genova, but less interesting than Verona, Pisa, Bologna.

Parco Archeologico di Brescia Romana had an impressive roman temple facade, frescoes, mosaics and marble floors, and the vast Museo di Santa Giulia housed some spectacular remains of roman villas. Well worth a visit. Views from the Castle were spectacular. Taking the train to Verona is also highly recommended (not on a Monday when THAT balcony and the amphitheatre were closed).

Brescia is an underrated city for sure.
Brescia is an underrated city for sure. However, there's a lot to see/visit here and a great place to explore the area (I easily took one day trips to Bergamo and Bologna, as well as Lake Garda).
The Santa Giulia museum is absolutely a-ma-zing.

Brescia itself is a super nice place.
Brescia itself is a super nice place. But what infected me chose it and accordingly recommend it - a great starting point for a trip. Direct train to Milan, direct train to Verona. By car, Lago di Garda is 30-40 minutes away.
This is a fabulous hotel!! We took a short taxi ride from the train station because we were hot and tired, but when we left it was a straightforward 15-minute-walk back to the station. The staff were lovely, and so helpful! The breakfast was exceptional....freshly squeezed orange juice, bacon and eggs made to order, and yummy fruit salad, as well as other wonderful items on offer. The hotel is on a pedestrian street, and is in an ideal location for exploring the beautiful city of Brescia. We highly recommend this hotel!!
I have never been in such a beautiful palazzo! It is like a museum. The staff is very kind, helpful. The room is elegant, fullfills all requirements! The park is vide with comfortable chairs, big and closed, safe parking place, interesting dinner menu, good breakfast etc. All that for a very friendly price in the heart of Brescia. I will recomend it to everybody and I hope I will be back in the future. Thank you very much for everybody who takes care of Centro Paolo VI !
A huge surprise to discover such a great hotel at the heart of Brescia. Recently opened, it was a great place to spend the night and discover the old city. A lot of restaurants in walking range, the Brescia castle visible from the room's window, the old town nearby - what more could you wish for?
D., our host, was really great and helpful. Always available and ready to give us all the info we needed, he made our stay even brighter.
We have stayed at this hotel for 1 night. We've chosen this facility due to its location and parking availability. It is located very close to Brescia downtown.
We had a family room and it was pretty small for 5 people.
The breakfast is just excellent and restaurant offers a really delicious coffee.
The Pizzeria Citta close to the hotel offers great pizza choice!
Parking and check in were very easy. It is very affordable for north of Italy and it's close to the city center by car. Hosts were very professional and kind. There were fridge and the washing machine in the room. You get exactly what you see, and there's really nothing to complain about if you are aware of what's waiting for you. We had no negative experiences.
Davide left an assortment of teas, coffee pods, jams , yogurt, milk, water, chocolates and everyday condiments; most unexpected for apartments we have stayed in our numerous visits to Italy. It also had a very well equipped kitchen. An allround comfortable apartment.
Brescia itself is well worth a visit and has plenty to offer.
Traditional hotel in art-deco style - unique place in Brescia to stay / wonderful terrace and stylish bar/breakfast room - this hotel offers a unique stay (very different from the uniform modern hotels) / location in the city center is very comfortable with nice shops nearby / underground parking nearby
The owner was really kind upon arrival giving all the explanations and showing the room. The breakfast was so good. The location is awesome, you can go walk at the most places of interest in Brescia. Located in the city centre.
The hotel had several little touches to make your stay more comfortable. Plenty of free parking, lots of fluffy white towels, magnifying mirror to do your makeup in the bathroom, tasty breakfast and good coffee.
beautiful building, very good breakfast, convenient location to everything of interest in Brescia, easy parking. was able to change date of reservation with only a couple days notice which was much appreciated
Everything was perfect - the location was excellent, Lidia and other staff members were amazing, the room was comfortable and quiet. City of Brescia is a gem, beautiful and interesting. And the food was great!
Hotel located 10 mins walk from train station. Modern looking hotel compared to most in italy. Room was big and bed was really comfortable. TV had sky italy to watch football. would definitely stay here again
This is a nice, somewhat dated hotel. It's fine, but I wouldn't rate it 4 stars. It's in a bit of an odd location outside of the city center, but quiet and close to the course I was taking in Brescia.
Very friendly stuff. The hotel occupies a couple of small, very aesthetic two-storey houses. Breakfast is average (no meat or fish), but juice was excellent.
