We came a day before our ferry trip to Split. In town, we liked the feel of this working city. We found different food then we had been eating which was fun and spent some time in the square. We ate greek gyros and hamburgers which were a nice change up from pasta and pizza.Next time I come for a ferry I would either go to the ferry ticket office to pick up copies of my ticket as soon as I got off the train (it is close by). If I am staying in a hotel, I would go to the port, find the 20 bus to take you to get your tickets and then return on the bus. The walk to the ticket center from town was difficult and at times without sidewalks.

None of my American friends have ever heard if Ancona, but I'd go back in a heartbeat. It's an important port city and is surprisingly picturesque. There's lots of variety - the harbor, the beach the churches on hills, lively palazzi, many restaurants. And so much history. Renting a bike is a great way to get around given many historical sites are on very steep hills.

Ancona may not be an obvious holiday destination, but there's a scruffy charm to it that I like, and there's enough to do here for a couple of days. It's also a good base from which to explore the Marche region of Italy - I used trains and buses to do full-day and half-day trips to numerous interesting towns during my ten-night. (Smaller villages would require a car.)

Ancona in winter is not a tourist destination, but for those who want to experience small town Italy it has much to offer. I would recommend a visit if you are already familiar with the country. The tourist office map has 4 walks which take you around the centre. The Mole has a wonderful museum where blind, partially sighted and curious people can touch all the sculpture casts. Ancona is well connected by bus and train. The Friday market was fascinating.

Very interesting port city with a charming, historic old town. View from the cathedral perched on one promontory is magnificent… and the walk back down through the ancient streets is interesting: friendly people, good and some great restaurants serving local specialties. The Marche wines from the area are a joy to discover.

We used Ancona as an overnight stay to break up a long train ride, in hindsight we would have kept travelling to our destination. Ancona harbour and old town are worth a visit, especially the Centro old part. Our accommodation was some 30 minutes walk from Centro, the walk took in some lovely views, although steep in parts. Our accommodation was only 10 minutes walk from the train station and was quite ok to stay in, the breakfast was very nice.
Great central location. Unit was on an upper floor & there was a lift. Reception & units were all renovated & were clean & attractive. The bed was very comfortable & the shower was good. We enjoyed the great coffee from the espresso machine. The hosts were lovely and directed us to a fantastic restaurant by the Sea, accessed by the pleasant pedestrian walkway that began near the B & B. We enjoyed our stay & time spent in Ancona.
The room was very clean and the host kind and friendly. We especially loved the area that was created for breakfast. The grounds were lovely and we were able to walk around and relax. I was actually able to wash a couple of things and hang them on the clothesline outside. We were fairly close to Ancona and spent the day visiting around the city. Great find!
Location was in the centre of town the main street. We had a balcony and excellent living space. Good view and the apartment was well equipped Giuseppe our host was lovely he was very organized and ensured we did not need anything. The beach was an easy walk. Good coffee shop next door. A great stay in Ancona
Lovely big room with big bathroom. Great air conditioning and modern decor and furniture. Very clean and beds were very comfortable. The breakfast is fantastic. Friendly staff. 15 min walk from the train station and half an hour from the port - best to take a taxi or catch a bus with a short walk to the hotel.
Nice hotel to stop for 1 night. Good level of comfort, very modern as for Italy ( if you prefer non classic design ). lot of restaurants nearby, you can eat even at 11 pm. Rooms are comfortable, good bed, very clean. Helpful staff. Additional bonus is great selection on breakfast ( buffet )
In very good place, close to supermarkets, railway and bus stations, easily to get to many beaches, airport or particulary any nearby places. There are two ACs. It is quite cheap, so if you don't want to spend much time in apartment, it is highly recommend.
The owner was very friendly! We bought some local olive oil as a souvenir. Breakfast was good (mainly sweet items though, as usual in Italy). We also enjoyed the pool and the general surroundings. It's a very nice place to walk around in the early morning.
The hotel is well located between Falconara and Ancona. The view is spectacular. We were very surprised with the staff professionalism. Breakfast is good and we were satisfied, even with the COVID restrictions. For sure we recommend the stay there.
Breakfast all right knowing that breakfast in Italy is mostly just a cappuccino and a croissant. Due to Covid you have to point to the waitress what you want.
Walking distance to the city centre. Free parking place available.
It exceeded my expectations, the rooms were very nice, clean and spacious. Perhaps the best thing was the staff, the receptionists were delightful. The hotel is in the old part of Ancona, with lots of old victorian buildings.
Room was clean and available at very short notice. Hotel was quiet and comfortable, and the included breakfast was good. Overall a decent value. Service was polite and the location was convenient for my purposes.
The staff was wonderful, very friendly and accommodating. There were a lot of good choices for breakfast. I highly recommend dinner in the restaurant. Some of the best pasta in my 4 months in Italy!
Spotless peaceful retreat in Ancona! Waiting for tomorrow's ferry to Greece? Resting after several days of cyclotouring? Stay here at this super-comfortable and elegant B&B.
Good selection. Fresh and enjoyable. Best cup of tea I’ve had while travelling in Italy.
Very accommodating arriving before check-in time, a room was made available .
