We visited during Semana Santa (Holy Week) and there was historical re-enactment and procession of Good Friday (the procession of Passione Di Cristo), a sight not to be missed.

We spent 2 full days in Alatri on a genealogical hunt. The old city sits high on a hilltop, with the “countryside” spread underneath like powdered sugar. It is a beautiful city, quiet, not touristy at all, with great restaurants and narrow ancient streets to explore. The history and archeology is extraordinary...do your research before going, as in many ways, Alatri is the center of the ancient world; the astronomical beginnings and the actual settling of the area are amazing. A hidden gem for most tourists; for us, we found our ancestral roots, and were stunned to find Alatri’s significance on some many levels.
Francesca is the greatest host you can think of. Everything about the place I stayed at for three nights was perfect - my room, the bed, the bathroom, the location. Impeccably clean, right in the centre of amazing Alatri. Breakfast at the nearby Salotto 22 also marvellous. I would definitely return?
