Hotel Hamar, hotel in Skeljabrekka

This hotel offers relaxing outdoor hot tubs, an 18-hole golf course and activities such as whale watching and snowmobile safaris. Reykjavik and Snæfellsnes National Park are a 1-hour drive away.

There were so many things I loved about Hotel Hamar. The staff were brilliant and were so helpful when we had an issue that needed tools to fix. The views of the mountain range are breathtaking. It was a great choice for my first stay in Iceland. The location was perfect; not far from Reykjavik airport, near the peninsula, and close to the Rejkholt valley for exploring. The breakfast was really good and supper menu, while limited, was exceptional. A fabulous hotel

Blómasetrið Homestay, hotel in Skeljabrekka

Featuring vintage furnishings and international decor, Blómasetrið Homestay is located in Borgarnes. WiFi is free at this accommodation.

Beautifully decorated home (all rooms including the toilet!) with a fully equipped kitchen. We stayed in the small twin room which fitted a small square table, a chair and a large bedside cabinet. The beds were comfortable and the shower/toilet was the most well furnished of all the places we stayed in Iceland - large sink, coat hanger and a bamboo chair! There was even a dog to play with in the cafe below :-)

Wonderfully secluded cottage in the middle of the countryside. Well situated for trips to Snaefellsnes. Very friendly and nice hosts living on with their farm next door. Possibility to book a guided horse ride with one of their icelandic horses, which was a magical experience! The cottage was well equipped, clean and absolutely cozy. We really enjoyed our stay here and can fully recommend!

We spent our time in Borgarnes.

We spent our time in Borgarnes. Especially enjoyed the Settlement Center museum. The museum comes with audio guides and is divided into two parts. Historical and folk lore (Sagas). Each takes about 30 minutes. Ate at the restaurant in the Center and it was outstanding. Best mussels I’ve every had. Did a shirt walking tour if the old town too. City also has full service groceries and gas stations and bakery. Not all towns in Iceland have this.

We were staying here on our way back from the western fjords...

We were staying here on our way back from the western fjords, it was nice and relaxing there was plenty to see in a relatively small area. We liked the waterfalls at Hraunfossar and Barnafossar but found them much busier than what we had got used to in the Western Fjords. There are plenty of restaurants in the area and there are options for most price ranges.
