The main attraction is the national park, where there are a lot of options for more or less demanding activities from a gentle boat trip to a two-day hike through the jungle. The rangers are brilliant. in town there are restaurants ranging from cheap to high-end, elegant handicraft shops, elephant parks, ayurvedic massage places - whatever you fancy, really. The weather is benign, as it's quite elevated. Transport connections (by bus) are pretty good from the central bus station. There are also western-style cafes where you can hang out and read; Wildernest is green and peaceful, while Chrissie's even has cappuccino!

It's a calm and serene destination, not like other hill stations.
I am a regular at Grandma's kitchen. It's a simple place nothing fancy but great local food. Kumily / Thekkady is not a huge place so getting around is easy. It's a cozy little town to chill if you don't want to run around sightseeing

Thekkady can be explored in two to three days. Enjoy nature walk but sighing of animals is very rare. There are huge trees which are appx 500 years old.
Travelers can enjoy local cuisine and elephant ride. There is opportunity to watch Kalaripayattu ( martial art) and Kathakali performance.

Absolutely stands as a demonstration for the saying “God’s own country”. Serene and bountiful of nature and some good species of wild life. The Thekkady boat trip is a ‘never-miss’ activity and the early morning off-roading trip in Mahindra Commander SUV 🚙 is phenomenal. Great place for a vacation with family and friends. One of the treasures ie the Periyar Tiger Reserve Forest. Don’t miss. I just crossed off one number in my bucket list. But beware of scammers. They are all over there.
The owner is very helpful, he gave me vital information, helped me to plan my sightseeing in Thekkady and also booked the Kathakali and Kalaripattu shows for me. Moreover, he also told me about KSRTC bus through Gavi to Pathanamthitta (it was a very picturesque ride).
The room was clean and bed was quite comfortable as well. The location of homestay is near to bus stand as well as Periyar Park bookings (around 1-1.5 km). In all, it is definitely value for money. I would definitely recommend this homestay for your stay in Thekkady.
The house was well maintained with all the facilities as mentioned and located in a prime location. Moreover, the caretaker, Ajith was very responsible and helpful. We were visiting thekkady for the first time and he briefed us about what we could do in thekkady and he even arranged an offroad safari for us upon our request. The house was also well equipped with all the amenities as mentioned in booking.com. There are many hotels and stores within a 500m radius.
Overall it was a wonderful experience.
We booked 2 rooms , one room was actually senior citizen friendly, which was unexpected and great. Rooms were clean and extra spacious when compared to other hotels in The city.
Breakfast was simple south indian - delicious.
Staff were very friendly- they helped us plan sightseeing and booked tickets for Kalaripayattu. Very close to bus stand. Excellent value for money. No complaints - this hotel just made our trip feel luxurious.
The room was spacious and comfortable. Everything was very clean including the bathroom. We had the room on the 3rd floor and so we had a great view and weather from our balcony.
The host was great and gave us directions for every place we asked. The location is also wonderful and we could walk to every place we wanted in the town.
Overall great homestay which I recommend to anyone who is traveling on a budget to Thekkady to stay.
We were welcomed by Mr Philp and Mrs Mary on our 3 days trip to Thekkady .
His home is a heavenly abode sitting in tranquil amidst the cardamom hills , strategically located you can visit Munnar and Vagamon within 100 kms from the property , the breakfasts were amazing , delicious and healthy , the rooms were cozy and felt like a second home . This is the best place to be and we will visit soon , best hosts one can have !!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Spice Village CGH resort at Thekkady. The resort was conviniently located next to the Periyar Tiger reserve. We loved the spacious and eco friendly cottages, great breakfast, kerala style evening tea/snacks with free yoga class, used the ayurveda center and also did their jeep tours. Very friendly staff. Overall an exceptional experience. We would love to return to this spot.
While everything was great about my stay, The Location has to be the best thing about this place. Located just outside of the Periyar Forest this hotel is at the heart of all activities in Thekkady. The host is super helpful. We went to thekkady kind of unplanned. But the host helped us plan everything, booked activities for us. it genuinely helps when your hotel host is also a Travel Guide.
Perfect Stay for family 👫 nice ambience. Near to location and I personally felt like am at my home.
Thanks Abbas Sir for your support you personally dropped at few places and suggested best places to see and for coffee. Waiting to comeback soon and really thankful 🙏 Do stay at spice cottage homestay if you are going to thekkady Or kumily.
The property was great and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful , specially, the manager Jitin. He ensured our stay was comfortable and arranged local tours and travels for us. Thekkady is a small town so Uber/ Ola isn’t available and hence a helpful hotel staff is must
Homestay that makes you feel at home. Mr. Mohan is very welcoming. Unexpectedly, we reached Thekkady around noon and our complete schedule got collapsed. He helped us to plan our day better in a little time we had. Thanks a lot uncle for your guidance and help.
Beautiful place a bit outside the village of Thekkady. We stayed at the treehouse. The host was very welcoming and the home made food was one of the best we had during our trip in India. The location was very peaceful and we had the best nights sleep.
The homestay owner is very helpful. He took my friend to a trekking spot in his car. He has good knowledge about things to do in Thekkady. The homemade food is good and spicy. We extended our stay at this place.
Courteous & friendly staff! They are always willing to answer all your doubts. They suggest all the places of interest and things to do around Thekkady. We highly recommend this place. Cheers!
Perfect Homestay, Pleasant weather and very peaceful. The rooms were very clean. Typical Kerala house, located at main centre of Thekkady. Easy access to Bus stand, shops, elephant junction.
The location is fantastic. It’s just a few minutes walk from main market and yet quite and serene. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful and try and fulfill all your requests.
