The personnel was super helpful and the room was comfortable (spacious room with balcony).
Common premises were spacious as well, and the general location in the forest quite enjoyable. Food was well cooked and we enjoyed a lot the breakfasf that made just for us.
The staff also helped us a lot with the organization for our day, by arranging everything the day before - from transportation to activities.
We had a very pleasant, well-organized yet quiet and relaxing time at Kalpavanam, and we will stay there again if we come back to Thekkady.

The main attraction is the national park, where there are a lot of options for more or less demanding activities from a gentle boat trip to a two-day hike through the jungle. The rangers are brilliant. in town there are restaurants ranging from cheap to high-end, elegant handicraft shops, elephant parks, ayurvedic massage places - whatever you fancy, really. The weather is benign, as it's quite elevated. Transport connections (by bus) are pretty good from the central bus station. There are also western-style cafes where you can hang out and read; Wildernest is green and peaceful, while Chrissie's even has cappuccino!

It's a calm and serene destination, not like other hill stations.
I am a regular at Grandma's kitchen. It's a simple place nothing fancy but great local food. Kumily / Thekkady is not a huge place so getting around is easy. It's a cozy little town to chill if you don't want to run around sightseeing

Thekkady can be explored in two to three days. Enjoy nature walk but sighing of animals is very rare. There are huge trees which are appx 500 years old.
Travelers can enjoy local cuisine and elephant ride. There is opportunity to watch Kalaripayattu ( martial art) and Kathakali performance.

Absolutely stands as a demonstration for the saying “God’s own country”. Serene and bountiful of nature and some good species of wild life. The Thekkady boat trip is a ‘never-miss’ activity and the early morning off-roading trip in Mahindra Commander SUV 🚙 is phenomenal. Great place for a vacation with family and friends. One of the treasures ie the Periyar Tiger Reserve Forest. Don’t miss. I just crossed off one number in my bucket list. But beware of scammers. They are all over there.
The staff were absolutely phenomenal! As a solo traveler figuring things out in a new city can be challenging, but the Elms team made it easy. They even came to my rescue when I needed to secure a multi-hour taxi ride.
The room and common spaces were clean and welcoming. They made me feel right at home with their delicious tea and help in navigating tourist activities. As a bonus, there are very cute monkeys that like to hang around the hotel.
Lizzy and Antony were great hosts to us! We had an amazing cuisine and cultural experience in Thekkady, thanks to them! They helped us with securing tickets to kathakali, local martial art show, tea plantation & spice tour, and Kerala Ayurvedic massage. The house is beautiful and is located amidst cardamom plantations. The rooms are large with comfortable beds and balcony overlooking the plantations. We will definitely come back! Thank you!
The property is situated among the jungle..10 minutes from the main junction. The property is well maintained n you feel close to Mother Nature. The staff here are extremely helpful n will be on their toes all the time for your help. I had a very pleasant stay with such smiling faces of the staff all the time making you feel so good n comfortable.. Would recommend everyone who wants to stay in thekkady with a good view n amazing staff.
Jobin, Binsi and their family were amazing hosts. Extremely welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Including organising a cooking class, spice tour and transport for us as well as helping with booking activities within Periyar National Park. The homestay was very clean and well kept with lovely terraces to sit on and have breakfast. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Thekkady/Kumily.
Peacefully located, good clean hotel in the price range, with in-house food facility, although options were also available just in front. Comfortable stay with big clean room with a view, balcony and nice bathroom. Manager Mr. Younnus was helpful with safari rides and cultural programme arrangements. Family run property with every member trying to be helpful.
Extraordinary experience in one of the nicest hotels I have ever been. An example in sustainability coupled with luxury. From the organic garden, the water saving plant, the 50 mile radius of all of the food used, and the beauty of the huge place & numerous trees, and all the little things that remind us how precious our earth is. Thank you
We were received in the warmest possible manner. Our host was extremely helpful in organising safari trips around Thekkady. The upstairs terrace offers an absolutely stunning view over the surroundings. I highly recommend anyone to book! (Travelling with a family of four)
The idea of the tree house is very cool and it really feels like you're in the middle of the forest. There's also a hanging bridge to go for breakfast which makes the experience more adventurous, and I could record some nice shots with the drone.
Bastin and Joshini were great hosts. Perfect location for exploring Periyar Tiger Reserve. Delicious breakfasts - Joshini catered for my wheat free diet. The roof terrace garden is lovely, just what I needed after 2 weeks in hotels.
