I might have stayed another night or two. We didn't have a chance to explore very far, and I had enough shopping. Our hotel had room service for food which was wonderful.
We ate at a rooftop fish restaurant and it was very bland. I was hoping for spicy food! Breakfast at Joes Cafe was good. It seemed to be the hot spot for Westerners.

It’s better to do the monuments early in the morning and hire a guide who will ride with you to take you to all the monuments as it’s too hot in June. It will take around 3 hours or more.
If you have nice zoo in your city for crocodiles and alligators then avoid the crocodile park as it doesn’t have anything special. Rest there’s nothing else to do in Mahabalipuram. Food in restaurants like A2b n all depends upon how clean you would like your food to be, I found the restaurant extremely crowded and unhygienic.

Very easy to walk about to all the major sights.
Very easy to walk about to all the major sights. No need for rickshaws unless you find walking arduous. They are available.
Some of the Kashmiri and Ladakhi shop owners really pushy. Most good humoured and we all know it’s a haggling game and people need to make a living. At the end of the day ask yourself how much you really want something and when you’ll be back. Most of these chaps send money home to families and travellers money main source of income
Go to Akka Creations on 39-48 Othavadai Street. The most amazing textile creations and fixed prices as manufactured by group of 100 or so women just out of Mahabs. I bought lots there including a beautiful elephant cushion cover for 500 rupees. Everything really well made.
Must place for authentic and tasty food is Mamalla Bhavan near bus station. A local institution that will not disappoint and cheap.

I didn’t have breakfast or food at Vinodhara as I met a friend at another hotel and we ate in various other places in Mahabalipuram.
The staff were really friendly and helpful and accommodating. There were no issues with booking the taxi at 3am to Chennai airport, everything ran smoothly.
My room was basic but I had absolutely everything I needed: a comfy bed, a bathroom with hot water and a shower with good flow and a fan
Perfect location on the main road down to the beach with many shops and restaurants in a short distance. Rooms were all very clean and everything worked.
Staff were very friendly and helpful with booking a car for the airport at a fair rate. Hotel is very good value for money, I am only sorry I didn't get chance to try the food.
The place is as mentioned in the photos. It's about 350 m from the beach and is surrounded by most of the restaurants. The staff are welcoming and provides you with most of the toiletries. I stayed for 2 nights where they had changed the bedsheets and the towels the second day . The rooms are enormous. Would highly recommend
closely located to a nice beach, great breakfast with delicious pineapple juice, very helpful staff, we could directly walk on the beach to the city center of Mamallapuram/Mahabalipuram, delicious grilled fish on the restaurant at the beach

Homely friendly hotel. Quite smooth reservation process, very friendly service at the desk, clean & large room. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chariot Beach Resort and will recommend to my friends too.
The Spa and treatments are excellent. Clean hotel with excellent housekeeping staff. Proximity to the beach was good.
Loved the breakfast spread and the waiting staff were incredible in the morning.
Extra comfortable room with exceptional breakfast. Loved being in the beach in the night. The swimming pool was well maintained. Good to see so much greenery by the bay in Chennai.
Hospitality would be the main reason that make you come over and over again even though you find issues like I said. Best of the people run this hotel. Good job everyone.
Good hospitality
