What an exceptional place. We were so sad we only stayed here one night - Divya and their family were so welcoming, we felt like we really were guests in their home. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable with a great balcony. The food was out of this world - some of the best meals I’ve ever eaten. Divya also helped us organize various activities and taxis and was super generous allowing us to check in early and stay drinking tea on the balcony after check out whilst waiting for a taxi. We also loved getting to hang out with her absolutely delightful children. It was incredible value for money and we will definitely be back in future.

The local people were very kind and helpful , directing us to the different places of interest. They never tried to cheat us or overcharge. Even on walks thru small village lanes people were nice and never looked at us with suspicion.Overall a nice place with friendly people.

Lovely and beautiful place, great people and amazing resorts. You might not like the food if you are not from Kerala because of the preparation style in coconut oil, barring that it’s an amazing place.

The evening shikara ride was great for our group and was at the right price point - 2000 rupees for 2 hours for 2 families. The bird sanctuary was a big disappointment as there is not much to see and the facilities are also very poor - of the two bird watching towers one is damaged and other does not have a great view. Not many species of birds could be seen or heard, its more of a nature walk than a bird sanctuary.

As soon as we arrived it felt like Paradise.
As soon as we arrived it felt like Paradise. As the gates shut the noise and hustle bustle of an Indian town were left outside.
The beautiful old buildings in heritage style, lovely garden with trees and the only sound that of birdsong. It didn’t end there. All the staff from Vaisakh the Manager, Amal the Chef, the lady helping in the kitchen and the lady constantly sweeping the floors and working in the garden were helpful, courteous and always had a cheerful smile. The two men were happy to enter into conversations with us when they were not busy. They also responded immediately when asked for anything.
The food was delicious and well cooked but they found it amusing that we couldn’t handle the chillis in some of the dishes.
The pool was clean and cool and very welcoming in the heat.
We spent a very happy and relaxing week at Brookside Heritage Resort and it was the best place to start our Kerala adventure after a long and arduous journey from the UK. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We will definitely be back.

We stayed in a property that gave us half-board meals (dinner and breakfast) and had in-house activities such as a sunset boat cruise and an evening cultural show. All this reinforced the kerala theme and made for a wonderful experience.

The backwaters are unique with water lilies and a wide variety of birds that can be viewed in a Shikara at dawn. A houseboat to spend the day and enjoy local cuisine served using fresh fish caught and sold by fisherwomen on the banks is a fabulous experience.
Coconut Lagoon is the best place in Kumarakom to stay. Perfect location - right on the backwater. You are transported to a world of verdent greenery, blue sky, gorgeous sunsets. the cottages are beautiful. the staff is very attentive andhelpful. I can't think of a better place for a holiday.
It is a very nice property. Well maintained, green, on the lake but no boat traffic to disturb the peace of the place, just the hotel boat. Nice facility, pottery, bike, fishing. Nice room. Some have a private pool some a big jacuzzi in the room. The massage is fantastic- a must to try.
Great place to stay at in Kumarakom. Staff are friendly and kind. Rooms were clean and well serviced. Breakfast was great and included freshly watermelon juice which was lovely. Very reasonable prices, and cleanliness better than some 5 star hotels we’ve stayed at! Highly recommend.
