Eco-Hotel Mayachik, hotel in San Juan La Laguna

Featuring free WiFi and a restaurant, Eco-Hotel Mayachik is located in San Juan La Laguna, 16 km from Panajachel.

I stayed at one of their bungalows with a private bathroom. I liked the room, it offered a cupboard with locks, for the eco toilet there was a fragrance spray to avoid bad odors. The personal was very friendly and the food they offered was very tasty.

Cabaña Tzanjuyu, hotel in San Juan La Laguna

Cabaña Tzanjuyu is a recently renovated guest house in San Juan La Laguna, where guests can makes the most of its outdoor swimming pool, garden and terrace.

The cabaña is very authentic and charming, well located in the center of San Juan in a neighborhood that is little touristy, all what we were looking for. Javier and Maria were incredible host, very interesting, passionate and humanist but also very generous (they offered me an herbal tea when I was sick). The view is just stunning and the place has all the comfort needed (even hot shower). We would recommend it to anyone coming to Atitlan.

We were a group of six over 55's off on a great adventure. San Juan la laguna gave us so many things to do and see. we hired a local guide to talk to us about the spectacular murals and artist in town. we hiked the mirador. toured a honey farm. enjoyed serval meals. One that stands out was the Cafe Alma De Colores. it promotes social inclusion of people with disabilities. they also have a wonderful gift shop, with handcrafted items that support this population. visiting the street of sombras and the steert of umberellas. Lovely community . friendly warm and welcoming.

Such a cute town, I wish I had more time to explore because some places were closed on the weekends. It's very close to the party life in San Pedro but much more chill so you can go back to sleep and hang in peace, which I preferred.

Small village, squeezed between party San Pedro and yogi San Marcos. Nice to visit these place but to stay a little bit more outside the crowd. There are some hidden jams: cafe Las Maria’s (great coffee and view!!), caffe La cabañas (great view over the lake, >20 different beers), cafe el artesano (lots of cheese and hams🧀 , it is real touristy (older rich tourists) though, but if you are missing the cheese of home it is a good place to forget about your homesickness 😉)

I fell in love with town as soon as got there. The view is unbelievable beautiful. You can appreciate the Indian Nose Mountain because it is right next to the town. It is so worthy to watch the sun setting and rising. Their church and park are just unique. I cannot wait to get back there.
