Absolutely amazing place, surrounded by the most beautiful nature. There is nothing to do expect going on kayak trips on the river and chilling out by the bar or the hammocks - it is perfect! If you want to rest, this is the place.
The dorms were neat - very spacious, protected from bugs and not too hot. I stayed alone in the bed upstairs for the three nights I was there and it was just like having a private room - a crazy cool private room.
The staff was really friendly and the food was nice.

Great taste on infrastructure , the whole thing sends the right message. A different place ! Nature all around , you’d love it !
Hostal Blood Moon is situated in Rio Dulce and has a plunge pool and pool views. This guest house features free private parking, a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi.
I really wanted to like Rio Dulce. It turned out to be only a hub for boat and bus travel for me. Having spent two months in Guatemala by the time I got there, I was not surprised by the poverty or conditions. That said, I didn’t find much other than the castle to be places I wanted to see more of. It was very hot and humid in early July.

Beautiful remote location with many jungle lodges (from super remote to more public) along the river. Great jungle hikes, caves, kayaking with plenty of nature and wildlife. Definitely a required stop when visiting Guatemala, will visit again!
the place is nice but the bad experience I had with the front desk woman was very upsetting she discriminated me sayin I was a Guatemalan and she mistreat all of us referring us as chapines or guatemalians just because I ask about the extra fees I didn’t know and she said it wasn’t her problem if I don’t know how to read and much more very rude woman her name is fulvia Karina
very eco friendly place, but still comfortable. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. We took a mini tour boat around the lake (independent vender, but reception staff have contact numbers), did a Kayak tour at 5:30 am in which we saw some hauling monkeys, and they have a nice hiking trWe did not eat in the hotel restaurant so can’t weigh in on that.
The location of this hotel is perfect. It’s overlooking the river , perfect for canoeing . The staff are great, especially Tim who will help organise trips and activities. We were in the beautiful bungalow overlooking the river. I liked the communal dinner in the evening , good to chat to other guests from around the world.
Almost everything is good in this hotel. The location is very nice. You have great view over the river.
The staff are very nice and helpful.
We got a beautiful room, it was very tastefully built and decorated. The beds were good too.
My kids loved swimming in the river, and to be honest so did I.
I enjoyed my stay in the hostel! I checked in at 11.30 pm and that was no problem at all. The room and bathroom were very clean, the wifi was decent enough to get some work done and Flor even warmed up my breakfast after my meeting ended. Would recommend it if you stay the night in Rio Dulce town!
The hotel has a nice rustic vibe but the room felt clean. The restaurant has nice options, the home made bagels were delicious and the restaurant hostess was very friendly and nice. I would love to come back and stay a couple of days (just me and my wife) kids might get bored on a longer stay.
We got a room not facing the street (i.e. #3), and it was one of the best nights of sleep we had in 5 weeks in Guatemala. AC, wifi in the room, very comfortable bed and pillows (way above Guatemala standard) and a great shower. The cafe is also fantastic with delicious breakfast for Q20-Q30.
We had a very nice one night stay. Unfortunately we arrived late but the hotel still picked us from Rio Dulce. Free boat pickup. Shared bathroom was clean. Clean basic room with a fan. Free kayaks to use around. It’s a good place to relax. Delicious pancakes & fair prices. Helpful staff.
Great Location. The rooms/cottages are in the middle of mangroves with direct access to the river. Very nice pool and extremely tasty restaurant. The public river bus and of course private river cab stops right at the hotel. What else could you ask for.
Situated right on the water, this hotel offered a beautiful restaurant, hammocks to relax in, and the breeze off the water was wonderful. The room was very clean, the shower had good hot water and pressure.
The location is amazing, very relaxing and welcoming, didn't feel like a hostel/hotel . By far one of the best places i'v ever stayed. Its a very quiet area and perfect for escapism in nature

Exceptional service. Hotel staff helps you with your bags all the way to your room. The restaurant serves great food all the workers there are awesome. Bruno the bartender is the best!
I liked the hotel and the facilities . Room was great and clean and loved having a bath in my room!
Staff and food was great and one of the best massages I had! 😊
