Good base location for visiting beaches on the northwest side of Crete. All inclusive was a nice plus that helped save on meals and time when returning from sightseeing all day and not having to go elsewhere to find food, however we were never there for lunches. They even had sandwiches and water in our fridge upon arrival after traveling all day to get there from the States. Very clean, modern decor and plenty of storage for clothes. Great view of the sea right on the beach. Best pool bar staff with Eleni and Claudia! Eleni is a true gem and works hard. She made the best drinks and all staff was friendly and welcoming.

PERFECT and i highly recommend to book vilas instead of hotel rooms, you will have such perfect privacy and endless relaxation, but also more space, garden, pool, etc ... Staff is so nice and lovely, especially Artemis, outstanding lady with calm voice and big heart. Overall, if you wish perfect vacation time just go to Spilia.

Spilia is a small village inland - around 30 minutes from Chania.
It is not a touristy area. There are not shops, bars etc but it is quite, relaxing and perfect for recharging batteries.
If you want more noise and bustle you need a car and busier areas like Platanias are only 15 minutes drive away.
There are 2 tavernas and a mini market - all reasonably priced within a 10 minute walk of the Spilia Village hotel complex where we stayed.

Our stay in Spilia was very chilled, there are three Tavernas here, and they can all be walked to, we ate in both and they were good value for money, and very laid back. You really feel like being in the centre of a Greek village. Church bells ringing, cockerels crowing, and abundant wildlife and birds all around. Amazing

The breakfast was super !! The room very comfortable and the staff very friendly.
Only the swimmingpool is small for the size of the accomodation.

Spilia is a great place to be away from the very touristic areas (10min away from car). It’s a nice village in the hills with an amazing scenery. There is a very good restaurant in the village, and plenty of good options on a short drive away. For us, Spilia was a perfect location as we could reach all main gorges and beach within an hour drive. Chania is 30min away, the highway 5min.
