There is little to do in the village itself, but Heraklion is only a 10-15 minute drive away.
The apartment is about 5 minutes by car to Ammoudara Beach. A little to the side of the main beach you can find a less busy place to swim.

I think the village is typical of a rural area. It has a mix of properties set on a hill and everyone seems to own a dog. You see the sunrise in front of you as you look across the countryside to the city. We found it to be a very quiet place - the people we did see were very friendly. The general area is countryside with little villages here and there and mountains in the background. It is out of the way but easy to get to the city or go into the mountain areas.
