Exceptional friendliness and care of our hosts! In one word, it was a great and relaxing stay in Xerocampos. The surroundings, the beaches, the gorges for hiking, the beauty of sea view – all this made it an unforgettable experience for us. Many, many thanks to our hosts, good bye and wish you all the best. Grateful, Martina and Hannes

Kato Zagros has an excellent beach, in fact more than one.
Kato Zagros has an excellent beach, in fact more than one. Plenty of parking. Choice of beachside restaurants. A great Minoan excavation and the Zagros (Deadman) Gorge walk starts in the town. There are many walks to explore. Serviced by daily tour buses.

This is a place of peace and quiet. Great area for walking.
This is a place of peace and quiet. Great area for walking. There is the archealogical site, the gorge of the Dead to visit. Lots of choice for eating, i would recommend Akrogiali Taverna.
Our accommodation was up high above the beach, which was not so good for anyone with problems walking.

Loved this little patch of heaven.
Loved this little patch of heaven. We came in late September, it was really quiet with about 20 people spread on a relatively large beach. There are a few tavernas and hiking routes here so most people were hikers. If you want loud bars and busy this isn’t the place for you. If you want to unwind and be quite isolated then this place is it.

Kato Zakros is perfectly located if you enjoy walking with not only the gorge but other walks possible. For a quiet break with sea, beach, restaurants and walking it is perfect and seems to be a very quiet and laid back place.

Relaxing seaside fishing village famous for the ruins of the Minoan Palace. There is 4-5 tavernas right next to the beach. At the west side of the village there is a hiking path to take you to Pelekita Cave. There is also a path to link with 'Dead's Gorge.' A great location to explore Sitia Geopark.

Kato Zakros seems like a village that has travelled to the distant past. Time goes much slower there. Nature is all around you. The people are kind and interested in you. It is not a "chic," "fancy" place at all, thank goodness. It is down-to-earth, real, and beautiful. The Minoan archaeological site right there is fantastic.
Georgia is very friendly and helpful. The bed is comfortable and we slept very well. It's quiet and Georgia put a lot of details into the rooms. Around the surroundings there is a hammock to relax and to pet the cats.
The apartment is almost on the top of the hill so you have a nice overview to Kato Zakros and the bay.
Extra: Georgia put us some nice wine into the fridge, which we could enjoy on the terrace.
The communication is very easy.
We recommend Georgia's Apartments very much.
Really the most perfect address for a serene leisure stay, with a pleasant shady parking spot. The view from our huge balcony, over the Minoen palace to the distant sea, was just breathtaking ! George and Haroula are delightful hosts. Providing us with plenty of little presents from their magnificent vegetable garden. Their household assistant is a loveable lady. We express our deep appreciation to them all for those marvellous ten days spent at Kato Zakros ! We shall come again.
Manolis and Thalia were excellent hosts. The location was very peaceful, waking up to the birds singing. Nice seaview. The hosts, provided us with homemade wine, raki, cake and other snacks. It was nice a community washing machine was available. They serviced the room everyday. Kato Zakros is a good central location for Vai Beach to the north and Xerocampos to the south. Also Kato Zakros has a very nice beach with several tavernas on the beach. Wonderful stay.
it‘s a gem, to say the least. wonderful welcoming hosts katarina and maria; a spectacular garden setting with lots of personality; a room with everything you could wish/need; little treats when coming home from a hike; a small terrace with seaview. really nothing we could have asked for more. we travel a lot, have seen/stayed in many hotels around the world, from luxury ***** to little guest houses. believe me/us, yiannis retreat was an unique experience.
We really liked Little Blue. It is a very purposefully and nicely furnished house in a beautiful location near the site of the Minoan palace, it is a place with a strong atmosphere, a pleasant beach, opportunities for trips. The owner is a very good and attentive host, we are grateful, among other things, for help with orientation in bus transport ... Thank you! The time in Little blue and in Kato Zakros was a time for us to rest and gain new strength ...
The apartment has all you need and the terrace is beautiful with amazing views of sea and mountains. The kind and friendly lady there gave us her delicious homemade cake and jam and olive oil and raki! The apartment was spotless and was cleaned every day. The gardens around the complex are lovely. Kato Zakros is peaceful and quiet with great swimming and places to eat, as well as a spectacular gorge to walk and a Minoan palace. A perfect holiday!
Garden. Hands down. We were speachless when we walked the garden. Amazing work by the owners. So amazing garden architecture you might only find in Japan mountains.
Also we loved the near beaches of Xerokampos area and the tasty food of the tavernas at Kato Zakros,
And the shop at Zakros village is well supplied with local products.
The bed in the studio fitted my body and we had a comfortable sleep.
This place is the best place I stayed on Crete! It is beautiful, quiet and clean. Katerina and Maria take such good care of the guests and the gardens are incredible. Bed was extra comfy. Everyday I was provided water, fresh baked cake, honey, olives, bread and more. Zakros is a special place and I look forward to my next visit.
This is the 3rd time we visited Kato Zakros and although we were always very happy with our previous stays, Yiannis retreat was exeptional!
Surrounded in a beautiful garden and being spoilt with fresh fruit, cake and biscuits(every day!!) we can't think of a better place to stay.
Maria and Katerina are fantastic!
The lovely furnishing and the good equipment of the apartment, the wonderful view at breakfast to the sea, and the extraordinarily nice hostess have contributed to an unforgettable holiday in Kato Zakros. It should be mentioned that the value for that price was outstanding.
A lovely and quiet and very comfortable place to stay on the far east side of Crete. The area is very natural and beautiful. The gardens are luxurious and well tended.
It's very close to the Gorge of the Dead trail head (end point) and about 15 minutes walk to the beach.
beautiful, quiet place with beautiful gardens that surround the rooms. close walking to the Gorge of the Dead, and the Minoan site of Kato Zakros. Good fish tavernas and beach in walking distance. Good wi-if!! Stella and her son Strati are very helpful.
Best place to stay in Eastern Crete. Everything perfect, the position, the food, the staff, the owner. Your room will be just 18 stairs far from a wonderful bay. You can reach all the best beaches of eastern Crete in 20-40 minutes by car.
This is the best hotel I have ever stayed at. The Ritz cannot compete with the level of service and attention to detail that the owner takes to make her guests feel at home. Absolute paradise! 11/10 experience.
Fantastic location by the sea in the remote and stunning village of Kato Zakros. The accommodation was close to everything we needed and the family were very attentive and helpful!
