Northgate House, hotel in Woodland

Situated in Buckfastleigh on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, next to the banks of River Dart. Among the various facilities of this property are a terrace, garden and a bar.

Very clean and modern facilities with the hotel located next to the beautiful abbey grounds. The bathroom was very well equipped, with a modern shower and a thoughtful nightlight setting. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The small gardens near to the abbey are very peaceful and great to explore after a long journey. The location is very close to the main road to Plymouth and Cornwall, without any of the noise.

Quaint old building with some modern extensions. Friendly owner (Julie). Comfy bed, firm mattress. Parking right outside. Easy and quite nice walk 5 - 10 mins into Totnes. Nice garden to sit in if warm and sunny. Breakfast food was good. Quiet establishment and area.

Live and Let Live rooms were nice but the second bed was not set up on our arrival (with 2 sleeping children, 10pm at night), and there was no bedding ready. The member of staff who greeted us said that he did not know how to make the bed and if there was no bedding ready there wasn't anything that he could do. We found some bedding in one of the cupboards and had to make the bed ourselves. The breakfast available was incredibly basic, served by a lovely man but who was not familiar with the process at all. Overall very disappointing service for the amount paid
