Great location; easy to find and convenient for public transport. Car park was spacious and quick to check in the car for the free parking. Really welcoming and helpful staff. Breakfast plentiful, tasty and well cooked (although hashbrowns a bit rubbery after sitting a while). Rooms were sizeable with plenty of sockets.

We had been staying somewhere else in Stratford upon Avon, due to be 2 nights, but it was so awful, we decided to head to the Lakes a day early, on the Friday, as we were due to go into our self catering accommodation on the Saturday. We booked last minute at the Ravenstone Manor and so, so happy we did. From the second we arrived, we were treated so well by the amazing staff. We had hot drinks by the open fire. We had a lovely evening meal, followed by a walk down to the lake and beautiful Church in close proximity to the hotel. We had a hot chocolate on our return. We slept well and had a delicious breakfast the next morning; again the staff were incredible. Loved this hotel and would definitely recommend to everyone.
It is absolutely stunning place! If you want to escape from busy city life it is the place to be in. So peaceful with a beautiful view. The lodge is immaculate. The owners are very friendly and helpful. I have already booked our next stay in August 😍

Wigton as a town would not rate highly as a tourist venue.
Wigton as a town would not rate highly as a tourist venue. It was a friendly but run down sort of place with few attractions. However, the cottage we stopped in was well located for many attractions in the neighbouring area.

As ex- Cumbrians, we were married & living in Cumbria for 45 years,we always advise friends to avoid the tourist places in the Lakes & head to the coast & villages like Wigton. Far less crowded, excellent accommodation and less expensive.

Wigton is just outside of the Lakes.
Wigton is just outside of the Lakes. There is almost nothing in the small town, pub, few shops. The hotel is surrounded by fields but there is another pub about a 15 minute walk along the main road - we never tried it, never had a torch!.
Bowness on Solway is not far from Wigton, quiet village but fantastic views across the Solway, worth a visit.
It is about a half hour drive to Keswick and all the life there.

I really like Wigton, although I may be biased as my daughter and her family live there! Wigton may not be typically pretty and characterful like some other nearby places, but as a little market town it offers an eclectic mix of independent shops, traditional butchers, bakers, greengrocers and small galleries as well as some more well-known names such as Greggs, B&M, Lidl and Co-op. (And, like many small towns, it has a fair selection of charity shops!) There are also takeaways and an Indian restaurant, but we didn't use these so I can't really comment on them. Although it has several pubs, I have to be honest and say none of them were particularly good, which is a great shame. Wigton doesn't have any places to stay over (believe me, we've searched!) but if you stay anywhere close then Wigton is certainly worth at least a little look around and has enough shops to supply you with all you might need during your stay.
The property is in a working farm, so the children loved seeing the baby cows. Wigton is just a few miles away with shops and supermarkets. There's a good variety of places to eat, plus the coast is only 12 miles away in Silloth, a nice little seaside town. The owners could not be more helpful, even providing little toys for the kids to play with and all Covid safe! We will definitely come back as this visit was far to short!
It was in a perfect location for us to tour the Lake District for a full day on our way to tour Scotland. It was very peaceful and Katie was an excellent hostess….. very friendly, helpful and hard working. The breakfast was excellent and served hot in a very nice bright breakfast room. The rooms were well appointed and very clean. We would highly recommend this to anyone traveling to the Carlisle area.
The Greenhill hotel is a beautiful property surrounded by lovely grounds. It is set back far enough from the A595 to be quiet and tranquil.
Our room was large, classically decorated, with 2 large windows allowing for much natural light.
The breakfast room was spacious and also nicely decorated. Our breakfast was excellent! The staff were very friendly.
The property was large and spacious.! I loved the kitchen, so well equipped and of a high standard it had everything I needed. Lovely bathroom. Spacious sitting room with round dining room table and chairs, on street parking for free. We'll situated in a thriving little town of a Wigton. Lovely locals. Near to Northern Lakes and coast. Lots to do and see.
Spotlessly clean, a very pleasant & attentive host with a lovely welcome pack of essentials, including a smashing homemade cake. Great location for the Solway Coast & Northern Lakes… We chose this to be close to our favourite restaurant “Scran” in Wigton, who champion local produce.. and will definitely stay again for our next Cumbrian trip.
This was my 3rd stay at this lovely hotel, the rooms are large, light and very comfortable and the staff are always cheerful and helpful, I travel with my dog and we are both made very welcome. This is my favourite stop over for breakfast, it's consistently delicious all local produce.
Substantial and tasty breakfast, very comfortable spacious room (room2 ground floor double), location in the countryside outside of Wigton - road and rail line nearby but little sound heard. Bunnies on the lawn 🙂 My second stay, will stay there again
Great location in the centre of Wigton town, close to the Lake District for all the sightseeing. Local shops provided for all the requirements of my holiday.
The apartment was very comfortable and clean and tidy on my arrival. Would stay again.
This was an exceptional room with everything just perfect. Great host and lovely breakfast.
Location very nice and easy to find
Would definitely use this bed and breakfast again if in the area. It was a real credit to the owners.
Location was very good.
Overall appearance of hotel was grand, sweeping staircase, large reception area and dining room, function room
They offered us the facility of plugging in our electric car - albeit a slow trickle charge
it was quite unique. clean, and well appointed. the kitchen was small with no oven but they left more than sufficient foods for breakfast and snacks. it’s a great area- would come back and stay longer.
I highly recommend Fiddleback Farm to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in North Cumbria. A quirky mix of old and new that works really well. Breakfast was excellent; as good as a 4 star hotel.
What didn’t we like! What a great place to stay. Warm welcome, comfortable room, great breakfast. We will definitely book again as it’s a great location to visit surrounding areas.
