We stayed in one of the outside brick chalets, and spent the evenings in the Inn bar and it was all very pleasant. The Inn itself is full of the charm you would expect, from it’s location in the rolling hills, and both Margaret, the landlady, and the staff were lovely and charming too. Nothing was too much trouble. We intend to return at a future date.
The Dog and Partridge is a 17th-century inn just a 10-minute drive from Alton Towers, located on the edge of the beautiful Peak District with countryside views.

We visited this hotel as we were going to Alton towers and it's really close.
I have visited before and absolutely love this hotel.
All the staff are helpful and very polite. During check in I was told we had a free upgrade to the bakeell room and it was absolutely beautiful. The views outside the room were lovely and the room was large and very clean. Can't wait to visit again.

We had our own fenced off area with lovely views and was able to keep the dog in his own area too with no problems. The cows was a great way to desensitise him! Loved it. We had a lovely BBQ which Jayne gave to us to cook on, she was a very welcoming and friendly host.

Good value for money and a lovely overnight stay for us. A clean, comfortable room with good facilities. Excellent evening meal and breakfast. The staff were first class- very friendly and helpful. You enter the hotel from a rear car park, which doesn’t give the best first impression, but once in the main reception area you are re-assured. The hotel is on a very quiet, peaceful location. It is not sign-posted at all from the A52 through Whiston, which is not ideal especially as the turning into the very narrow lane is tight and not obvious.

Delitefull place to stay with gorgeous scenery and lots to do being close to Alton towers and a golf course on site with the first tee only 30 meters from the front door. Look forward to our next stay.

Fantastic place to stay!
Fantastic place to stay! Such friendly hosts that would go out of their way to make your stay perfect. Food was incredible and had something for everyone - which is great when you have fussy eaters in your group.
We will always stay here when visiting Alton Towers.

Just got back from a 2 night stay... the young lady who was there the whole time we were, was so lovely. She is a real credit to the place and nothing was too much trouble. The food was amazing and a great price... and so are the drinks!
Definitely be going back!!
Fantastic family run business!
The hotel manager/owner was lovely. we had a slight noise problem which was not the managers fault as it was to do with other guest's. Unfortunately the noise travelled from the room below us however when I called the manager at 12.30 am she was extremely helpful and did speak to the other guests, she was very apologetic even though this was not her fault. Other than this we had a fantastic stay and it was the perfect location for Alton towers. I would definitely recommend it.
The hotel is fantastic..The room was perfect, very clean, very modern, nice and quiet. We felt very comfortable there. The staff couldn't have been friendly to our very chatty little boy. They even put birthday balloons in our room.
The food was of extremely high quality at a reasonable price and the included breakfast was delicious and we were never made to feel rushed.
Just 10-15minutes to Alton towers.
We will definitely return and would recommend to friends.
Lovely location, very quiet. There is a golf course attached to the hotel and if you stay in the hotel it is free.
We were only there as we were going to a wedding nearby but we went early as the weather was nice and it was great to sit outside in the sun with a drink.
We had something to eat and the meal was excellent especially the mushroom pepperpot.
The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly.
The breakfast was very good also.
Stayed here for 1 night the hotel was lovely ,, beautiful location ,very warm friendly staff , it was my partners birthday so we was upgraded to a lovely room with ballons 😊 they really made an effort it was a lovely thing to do ❤ the hotel was very clean and the cooked breakfast was delcious ,i highly recommend this hotel we stayed here for the fireworks at alton towers the location was great only about a ten min drive ,,defiantly will return .
Chef was happy to provide an excellent vegetarian breakfast and evening meal. Really friendly hosts which made our stay a real pleasure. Very happy to recommend this hotel, easy access to local towns and places of interest to visit, but in a beautiful rural setting.
I very nice hotel in a good location but VERY hard to find. I believe that the owners have tried to obtain permission for signage but this has not been provided. Work is still going on in the grounds and some rooms do not have a great view of the outside.
The hotel decor is stylish and very comfortable. Staff were fantastic and made the stay a most enjoyable one., especially the manageress - brilliant hostess!! The food was fantastic- great presentation, portions and quality. We will definitely book again!
