Wakefield itself is quite interesting, and the cathedral is lovely. The coffee shop I went in (name forgotten unfortunately) also seemed to do a good range of interesting cakes. It was quite near the main station.

We travelled for work, and after spending 12 hours at work.
We travelled for work, and after spending 12 hours at work. the most important thing to look forward to is a clean warm room with a comfortable bed, plenty of hot water for a bath or shower and a good nights sleep, this is the 7th time of staying at the Campanile hotel, so we are really pleased with this hotel.
Good place to eat is the Red Kite pub around a mile away, fantastic food and a family friendly atmosphere.

The hotel has a convenient location for visiting the city centre. There is a reasonable restaurant and breakfast was ok, but I preferred to have a breakfast roll in the main restaurant area as they were available later than in the breakfast area. The rooms have been recently refurbished so they are bright and airy, and the heating was very good. The rooms have a good level of security, which is an improvement on our previous stay. The bed was a large king size and comfortable.
Right in the city centre and close to both stations but set a little back from the street so it's nice and quiet, we always stay here when visiting Wakefield. Standard issue Holiday Inn Express - you get a modest clean comfortable room and some breakfast. Nothing spectacular about it but absolutely no complaints either.
