We really enjoyed our stay. A warm welcome, comfortable rooms, good beer and a nice breakfast. We also ate dinner in the bar and this too was very good. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful. A great way to clean up, wind down and recover after a weekend of trail running and camping.

Did the job, cute wee room above a traditional Cumbrian pub. Great place to stay if you also want to enjoy some real ales and Cumbrian food. The staff were all lovely and it had good heating (not always the case in these parts). The breakfast the next day was tasty and served in front of a roaring fire.
Atop one of England’s most beautiful valleys, Woolpack Inn is a 20-minute drive from the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. It is surrounded by scenic hiking trails, and offers real ales and free Wi-Fi.

we chose this location as it was close to wasdale head to climb scafell pike! Thankfully we got the last room for the hotel for the weekend and we werent disappointed. The room had a lovely
Modern bathroom with walk in shower, the bed was lovely and comfy especially after our hike! The decor was country and cosy which was perfect! The inn was super busy as local campsites were close and it was such a friendly lovely environment. The staff were informative and very helpful! Miles particularly who served us was just a beacon of excellent customer service. The communication amongst the team was great, especially around the need to wait for the chef to catch up for orders which was absolutely fine. We ordered a bottle of wine and waited. The food was nice, especially the bbq ribs dipped in the soup of the day (potato and leek). We really loved our stay, thanks for having us!
With incredible mountain views, this traditional, family-owned guest accommodation has a real log fire and wooden beams in its cosy bar and restaurant.

I love the atmosphere in the pub. The food was excellent with a really good selection including a number of gluten free and vegetarian options. My room was clean and had everything I might need and was very affordable. I like that there are walking routes starting directly from the car park. It’s also only a 20 minute drive from here to Wasdale which makes it a fantastic base camp for a number of the highest mountains in the area. There were a number of options for the included breakfast and my eggs Benedict was delicious.

All round fab holiday, will be going back to see what it’s like in the summer months. We kayaked wast water, swam in the river, intended to climb scafell thought the weather hindered, ate at the wasdale head in, and had cosy nights in at wallowbarrow farm cottage.

Feels like it is off the tourist trail a hidden gem with the river Dudden to swim in, fantastic walks and Scafell within easy reach but what a stunning drive to get there and the pass very nearby too - use the local shop if you can but bring supplies too. All you will hear is birdsong, sheep and the river !!
