The horse and farrier looks so picturesque and a great location for what we needed.
The barman and Dave were really friendly and made an effort to make the stay nice. The two ladies on breakfast service were lovely as was the breakfast!

Location is excellent.
Our room was quite small but we were out most of the time so not an issue. Was very clean and comfortable though.
Breakfast was very good.

Place we stayed was absolutely lovely 😍. With amazing views and superb walks. Shops are easy to get to and there's a restaurant if you choose to go there 😉, you will not be disappointed food was great and the staff very helpful. Very clean and dog friendly. Fortunately we only had a few rain showers overnight however, didn't stop us from having a fantastic time 😀 x

I would recommend it but make sure you stipulate that you want to stay in the Horse and Farrier or you end up in the sister hotel ‘The Salutation Inn’ along the road. Very disappointing not to stay where I thought I had booked.
Saying that we were comfortable and had all meals in the H&F which were excellent.

Threlkeld is a very small village outside Keswick.
It is accessible by bus and the starting point to climb Blencathra. Castle Rigg Stone Circle is nearby and the village has a good pub called the Horse and Farrier (booking recommended) and a nice café for breakfast.
If you are looking for somewhere quiet to stay near Keswick, you can't do much better than this.

Pretty Vilage with easy access to Keswick and Penrith both by car and the hourly bus which stopped just yards from the Horse and Farrier.
We particularly enjoyed the walk from Threlkeld along the excellent disused railway line to Keswick enjoying lovely views, It was very easy to catch a bus -if preferred -for the return journey. The bus stops right at the door of the hotel. Lovely coffee shop in the village too.

Threkeld is a small village with a couple of pubs with not much else there. However, it is a great location to visit the lakes and nearby Keswick and Carlisle.
It is a popular choice for walkers and cyclists.
We stayed at the Horse and Farrier in Threkeld which was lovely old traditional style pub with accommodation. The food was excellent! It is advisable go book if you want to eat there as the pub was busy every night with diners. I would definitely recommend staying there.
Excellent location close to the heart of Threlkeld. Lovely views over adjacent houses to the fells beyond from many of the rooms. Good showers in main bathroom and en suite. Lovely big rooms both upstairs and downstairs. Well equipped kitchen. Plenty of comfortable seating and a nice little set of outdoor chairs and table. Private parking was very convenient and we were actually able to keep three cars (hatchbacks)close to the house and safe.
Very comfortable, clean and modern property. The view was amazing. The ability to sit outside expanded the size of the room. There were nice amenities such as a refrigerator, microwave, tea kettle and toaster. Within walking distance to a pub within Threlkeld and a short drive to Keswik. Wonderful location for walking and hiking. Host was friendly and informative. We stayed 2 nights but could have easily stayed longer.
The location was excellent in the centre of Threlkeld, handy for walking and sight seeing. The kitchen is well appointed and the bedrooms small but comfortable - beds very good! The sloping bathroom floor enabled us to feel drunk without any alcohol consumption. Small garden at front allowed us to sit out though the weather was rather blustery while we were there.
We had the pleasure of meeting the owner who was extremely hospitable and knowledgeable of the area. We particularly enjoyed the hike up Blencathra from Scales which looks down on the accommodation.
Amazing views from the studio. Lovely town with 2 pubs (horse & farrier great for food) and a good cafe at Threlkeld village Hall.
Very friendly staff who were more than helpful. The views surrounding the hotel are simply stunning. The room was amazing and ready earlier luckily as we had arrived slightly earlier than the check in time. A short drive away from Keswick and Derwentwater. Definitely one of our new favourites when visiting the Lake District
The location is very good for all sorts of activities and food shopping is a short car journey away. The view from the cottage is impressive and the accommodation is very cozy and well equipped. Beds were super comfy.
The fit members of our party had a great time climbing the hills and feeding the Horseflies.
Didn't really know what to expect. As bunkhouses go I feel it was o.k. but for the price I paid which exceeded a later stay in a hotel I wasn't impressed. The beds, however, were comfortable enough and the bedding I paid extra for was clean and soft. Felt the place in general was clean and covid safe.
Superb views from the house, pleasing, quiet location in Threlkeld. Cosy fire in the lounge. Place was warm and welcoming and we had a lovely holiday. Excellently sited for a quick jaunt up Blencathra and to access the lovely Threlkeld Village Hall cafe and the cycle path to Keswick.
This cottage is in a great location at the foot of Blencathra in the heart of Threlkeld. Just a few minutes walk to a couple of pubs and mountain trails straight from the doorstep. There is space to park a car, which will be a bonus in the busier periods.
Spectacular view from our room. Gorgeous design and attention to detail and comfy bed after a long day of travel. Threlkeld is a gorgeous village and an ideal place to explore the Lakes and key sites such as Castlerigg and Keswick.
The setting and convenient location of the hotel was great. The friendly staff was great. The room was comfortable within the confines of its size and position in the building.
