The room itself was very nice and comfortable, apart from the wardrobe interior light had a fault and would not turn off, so I had to lean the ironing board against it. The problem I had with hotel was not the room, nor the welcoming reception staff, but with the hotel restaurant, as it was such poor quality and the meat turned up raw. I unfortunately had to immediately complain and I declined the offer to order something else, due the first main being completely inedible. The waiter and restaurant manager agreed that I had reason to complain and informed me that I will be refunded. In the morning the hotel manager lady also confirmed that I will be refunded, but I never received a refund and have been endlessly chasing the matter up.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND EATING IN THE HOTEL RESTAURANT, but the breakfast was very good.
This hotel’s Olive Tree Restaurant has been awarded 2 AA Rosettes for its fine food, and there is an outdoor patio area where guests can relax in warm months.

It was close to the Cathedral which is why I booked it. I loved the history of the house and grand but homely feel of the place. The breakfast was delicious and I would recommend it especially with the added mushrooms. I had tofu, roast tomatoes, spinach and large field mushrooms on sourdough. You don't have to be a vegetarian to like this!!

Room was clean and spacious. Temperature was easy to control. Even though it was at the front there was no noise from the street. Bed was exceptionally comfortable.
