Really nice place with great service who did everything they could to fit in with our timings, dogs and dietary requirements. Great place for dog owners because the rooms open out onto the car park and there's some grass there too.

This was my second stay at the Kings Arms after a lovely first stay. Just as before, nothing was too much trouble for the friendly and helpful staff and the Kings Arms will be my first port of call when I’m working in the area 💖

Everything! Sue is very kind and hospitable! The room and adjoining dressing room and bath were nicely furnished/equipped, including an electric kettle with various hot drink options. Breakfast was exceptional! Lots of choices! Yum! The property is picturesque, and the chirping birds really add to the natural ambiance. Just lovely!

Some interesting shops, Herriots was good value for money and the walks around the town were lovely although there was snow on the ground. Good entertainment in the Golden Fleece watching the staff cock up all the orders for meals and drinks! Beware of the unpleasant traffic warden who comes all the way from Scarborough so has to earn his corn and also the pieman opposite Neros which we happen to cross swords with.Staff in Herons and the Coop were exceptionally helpful.

Thirsk is a lovely place to visit.
Thirsk is a lovely place to visit. There are many cosy teashops (Upstairs, Downstairs was our preferred choice with a great selection of snacks, main meals (including daily specials) and cakes! A great Italian restaurant (Bianco), which I can highly recommend - but do book - we booked for a Wednesday evening and it was very busy! There is also a good selection of bakeries for yummy cakes, cookies and breads! Lots of charity shops for a few bargains, Co-Op, Boots & WH Smith. There is also a large Tesco supermarket just out of the town.
A visit to Thirsk wouldn't be complete without a visit to The World of James Herriot - it was brilliant!
There is also a lot of parking, both short and long stay.
All in all a great time was had by us, and I wouldn't hesitate in returning to Thirsk again!

There were lots of local shops, cafes and a local market at the weekend. The old town centre was very quaint. It wasn't too busy or too quiet. There is a locally run cinema. It is less than 20mins on the train to York. The locals are friendly.

A lovely little town that has shops, a little market and nice cafe’s. You can see where James Herriot lived and worked and everything is in walking distance from where you park. There is plenty of parking and it’s free for an hour. It is a must see little town.
I liked the location of the property. It’s an easy walk into Thirsk. Parking was convenient but take care parking under lime trees as sap will drop onto your vehicle. It is a pleasant street, fairly quiet and full of character.
The home was well equipped particularly the kitchen. There was a good range of information and maps about the area with helpful tips from the owners. A variety of books and games were available and the TV is large and is a smart TV too.
The main bedroom was very attractive.
Great location close to Thirsk. A lovely old hotel with extensive menu - great food. We had intended to go back into Thirsk for dinner but after seeing the menu choice it was any easy decision to eat at the Old Oak Tree. Room was in a row of four adjacent to the main building, was modern with everything we needed and spotlessly clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
The Angel at Topcliffe is a hidden gem. The staff was incredibly friendly, the meals well prepared and of exceptional value. A lovely hotel/restaurant combination. :) The breakfast was much nicer than we expected....continental options as well as much more elegant options. Well done Topcliffe.
It was as expected for a budget hotel. No frills but the staff were welcoming and helpful. Plenty of free parking. A secure room on the ground floor was made available for us to store our bikes. Just a few minutes drive to Thirsk. The room we had overlooked open countryside.
Fab base for a visit to the local area. Lovely host, lovely rooms and facilities. Breakfast was delicious 😋. Well worth a visit. The area was delightful, very quiet. An excellent choice for a mini break at a price that will not break the bank. Thanks for having us.
Lovely place to stay, very welcoming and comfortable. The bedroom was very comfortable, well equipped and immaculately cleaned. Super breakfast. Definitely our first choice of places to stay in the Thirsk area by a big margin.
Beautiful peaceful location. A very comfortable cosy cottage with an excellent kitchen which has everything you would need for a self catering break. Would definitely return if in the area and would recommend to others.
Spotlessly clean, comfortable and cosy cottage. Great location with only a short walk to the centre of Thirsk. Welcome pack is a lovely touch. Everything you need to make it a home from home.
Hotel is very nice, the staff were loverly and helpful. The restaurant was good but the menu is a bit limited. Hotel is in an exceleent location right in the middle of the town.
Good friendly staff. Menu good. Lots of parking. Hotel convenient from A1 and close to Thirsk. Staff at breakfast were courteous.
Village pleasant to stroll around.
The property is extremely well maintained and offered great accomadation. Lovely little quirky bits like the Alice in Wonderland area. Lovely large bathrooms
