The Lounge Team was wonderful! They went above and beyond to be welcoming and helpful hosts. They made me love Penrith! Also, the included breakfast was delicious. They did a great job of accommodating my allergies/restrictions. It is also in a prime location near ample shops and restaurants.

Characterful old village pub in Cumbria close, but not too close, to the M6. If like us, you live in the south of England, and are travelling to Scotland by car, you will need somewhere to stay to break your journey. The Strickland Arms is ideal. Very friendly, in a beautiful and quiet part of the UK, overlooked as the Lake District is on the other side of the M6. There are some really lovely English villages. Pub provides excellent food. Comfortable and friendly. Although it's only a couple of miles from the M6 you wouldn't know that.

Everything, from seeing the location that is so peaceful & quiet, to opening the door of the pod & the bathroom facilities, was just perfect for our visit. 2 black lambs & the 2 lovely horses right outside our pod were just idyllic. To be greeted by 2 scones with butter & jam to have with a much needed coffee, we sat outside enjoyed the scones & the scenery. We loved our short stay, we will definitely be back. Thank you so much.

Temple Sowerby was a lovely quiet village with great views of the Pennines. Dog walk to a local National Trust property was easy to find. Lovely pub, The King’s Arms just along the road from where we stayed served lovely evening meals too.

Temple Sowerby is great walking territory and very handy for Penrith where there were many tempting places to eat. Dining at The King's Arms however was a good decision and we especially enjoyed the breakfast.

A very old, unusual village with a maypole that was about 40 foot high. A pleasant area to walk around. It was very easy to travel to other ares. Acorn House a NT property was close by with interesting gardens. The Kings Arms served excellent food.

A very pleasant place to stay .
A very pleasant place to stay .Staff are friendly pleasant and helpful.Food was excellant. Only thing to let the village down was the great lack of a village shop, not only for the locals ,passing trade, and guests of both inns in the village. I think it could be a goldmine and would add considerably to enhance a stay in Temple Sowerby.

The location is in a quiet village on the edge of the lakes and if you want you can easily drive there as the main road in to the lakes is 5 minutes drive.
But if you want to stop local there is footpaths in all directions and we would if stopped longer would have explored.
The main plus for us was that in the future and more time it would be a great area to explore more and relax in if you want.
This is a wonderful small hotel in a beautiful location. Lovely comfortable rooms, tastefully decorated with every possible amenity. The manager, a delightful Polish lady, did everything to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Dinner was outstanding (her home made cheese-cake is to die for!) and breakfast was equally good. This was the last night of a two week holiday in the Lake District and Scotland and could not have been better - easily the best accommodation of the trip (and by no means the most expensive.) Simply outstanding.
Lovely place to stay , staff friendly and helpful. We stayed as it was near to the hike we had planned. Breakfast was lovely and the atmosphere very calming. Would definitely book here again if I wad visiting for different reason. Wish I check if meals were being served at the hotel prior to arrival as it was only on arrival that we found out that evening meals were not and needed to phone round to find somewhere…
We were really pleased with our find at The House at Temple Sowerby, when looking at a short notice trip away this place was still available and for a more than reasonable rate, especially as it included a lovely breakfast. The garden is beautiful and we loved our stay and was a perfect base.
The hotel is quaint with an old worldliness. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The breakfast was excellent. The room was clean and comfortable. I particularly liked the deadlock on the bedroom door: impossible to lock yourself out or forget your key.
I stayed one night and found the House at Temple Sowerby a great location for a stopover. The room was clean and well kept and there was a good supply of tea, coffee and water. The bed was very comfortable, I had a restful night followed by a lovely Breakfast.
Location was perfect in the centre of the village and near Acorn Bank NT property. The breakfast was wonderful--lovely fruit and yoghurt plus really good cooked food.
Cafe for tea at the backof the hotel was excellent too--great scones.
I know the King's Arms very well from a previous trip so I know the staff and I would always be happy to stay here. An exceptional hotel run by exceptional people. Food always to a high standard. Room clean, tidy and spacious.
We had a very enjoyable stay along with our small dog & were made very welcome. All staff were extremely friendly & helpful.
Food was delicious. We will certainly recommend the Kings Arms at Temple Sowerby.
Food was excellent and staff friendly and efficient. As COVID restrictions were still in place, this obviously effects the service the hotel can reasonably deliver but we felt comfortable and welcome.
