Brilliant location, nice welcome and good breakfast
A lovely place, a lovely area. Great service and food options from The Deli, overlooking the harbour. The evening meal at The Starfish was ok, but the organisation, attention to detail and service wasn’t ok.

Tarbert is a lovely little town with plenty of shops for food and other supplies, without being a busy shopping centre. There are great walks around the area, and if you can travel a bit there are loads of places to visit, or you could just sit and watch the world go by in the harbour!

Eating out in Tarbert can be a problem early in the week.
Eating out in Tarbert can be a problem early in the week. There is a limited choice at the best of times, but most places seem to be closed on a Tuesday (and maybe some other days as well).
A tour of Tarbert itself only takes half an hour or less, but it is in an attractive setting. I suggest you pass through in the daytime, have a coffee in Cafe Ca'Dora, buy local whisky from the specialist local seller, and move on.

Tarbert is a lovely little seaside fishing village on the shores of Loch Fyne in Argyle. It's a nice location with great facilities for a small village. We ate in the Stonefield Castle restaurant about two miles from the village. The setting and view from the dining room were outstanding, both the service and food were excellent.
We loved everything about our stay here. Our room (Arran) faced the harbour/marina and we parked just along from hotel (free). Owners Mark and Aly are a lovely, friendly, helpful couple and a great example of B & B hosts who care about their guests. Aly’s Mexican porridge has to be tried, definitely something I will try to do at home. Everything you could want for breakfast is on offer and nicely presented. This would definitely be the place we would stay if we ever go back to Tarbert.
West Loch Shore, Tarbert, is the best possible location for exploring Kintyre - Tarbert is a lovely village, with everything you could need, and the Lodge was ideal for us. Clean, spacious, and well equipped. We had a really comfortable stay, and loved how peaceful it was. Arrival was smooth, staff were friendly and helpful and we had everything we needed. The view over the Loch is just lovely. A brilliant spot for a getaway as a couple or as a family.
We came to Tarbert with our dog to start walking the Kintyre Way. Fortunate enough we found "Starfish Rooms" for the first night. Prime location close to harbour and just next to lots of Restaurants. Small but nice room in a converted old building, partially visible natural stone walls. Personal welcome by owner with plenty of advise and tips. Easy parking. There are several choices to have breakfast next to this accommodation (Room only)
The room was decorated in good taste with many interesting curios and art objects. The view of Tarbert Bay was stunning. I doubt that any other view in the town could compare. Allan was a very nice host. A breakfast tray was placed on the table right outside our door at the appointed time.
This was the second time we booked this room. The first was in 2018. Glad that everything was just as we remembered it.
Everything: a beautiful setting and house and gardens; a short walk from Tarbet and it's amenities and harbour. The room we stayed in was clean, well-appointed, comfortable, and a pleasant place to be. Peter and Louise were great hosts and provided an excellent breakfast - home made bread/toast - and helpful advice regarding travel and places to eat out. Ten minute drive from the Kennacraig ferry terminal.
We stayed in the Shepherd's cottage, which was lovely and cosy. Perfect for a family. Liz was friendly and helpful, and the cottage was well equipped, spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. We loved all the cosy blankets! It's dog friendly which is great, and we all enjoyed a beautiful walk round the adjacent Stonefield Castle estate..
This was a hotel/restaurant with rooms above the restaurant. Had a beautiful view of the bay right outside the window. Room was small but clean and comfortable. Wi-Fi connection was decent. Check-in/check-out was easy. Not a huge selection for breakfast, but I had one of the best smoked salmon with scrambled eggs there.
The quality of food at breakfast was excellent. View from room onto harbour was really good.
The seafood served in the restaurant really showed what scotland has to offer . From the mussels to the langoustines ...delicious. reasonably priced and good choice of wines
the location , overlooking the fishing boats heading back to the harbour, a stones throw from both the Portavadie ferry in one direction and into Tarbert Main Street in the other.
Wonderful location on Tarbert harbour (not all rooms face the waterfront); smartly appointed accommodation with fresh towels and linen; friendly, inobtrusive host.
Waking up in the morning to the tide being nearly ewindow level. Being so close to the pubs and restaurants. The barge experience was so different and great
