The welcome. The staff were very enthusiastic about what they offer.
The traditional-style decor. I figure it was a hunting lodge in the past, and it retains that feel with wood burning stoves and sumptuous furniture.

Excellent location on our cycling trip.
Staff were welcoming and friendly.
Room very comfortable, clean and a good size with a well designed and equipped en suite shower room. Hot water plentiful and a large heated towel rail on which we could dry some of our damp clothing.
Views from the hotel of Torrisdale Bay are stunning.
We ate in the hotel restaurant - a nice meal, well priced.
Breakfast was substantial with a large choice of items from the Full Scottish, porridge and cereal to scrambled eggs and smoked salmon

Reception was great - the manager Jan is friendly and efficient and helpful and runs a really nice set-up.
Communal kitchen and dining area was great. We met and talked with other cyclists and walkers in the evening.
The Heat and Eat meal option works really well and is good value if you're travelling light. There is a lot of other food for sale too: beer and soft drink, chocolate, noodles etc
Dormitory with 12 beds was really quiet overnight. Beds and duvets really comfortable.
A good locked bike shed on the site

So cute and cozy. Very quiet. Great location with a short jaunt to a beautiful beach. Many large rabbits seen on walk to beach. Staff was great, breakfast was wonderful.

There isn’t a lot to do at talmine itself - there’s a hotel called the tongue hotel which you can get a meal but it’s expensive there’s a local shop open during the day. Beautiful walk along the beach ( we seen seals ) very quiet and small town . Durness is about half hour drive with a couple of things to do but again very quiet and no pubs etc but does have a spar. Make sure you bring your own food etc if staying in talmine area . Gorgeous backgrounds and lovely walks but as we found out up the top of Scotland there’s not a lot going on apart from walks.

Lovely location if you like to walk otherwise not much else to do. No local pub in the village. Limited choice in village shop. Nowhere to buy a newspaper. The next place Tongue had a restaurant but not dog friendly.
