We loved the location and we had a nice attic room. The restaurant was good, we enjoyed a meal and drinks but couldn't stay for breakfast due to flight times.

Immaculate, modern rooms, fabulous heating, Christina was very professional, phoned the day before we arrived to make sure we were happy with everything and said she would meet us on arrival, very good personal service. We would definitely recommend Lews castle to anyone thinking of booking.

Charming town and a safe Island.
Charming town and a safe Island. Very little to be concerned about. Two large supermarkets for a variety of groceries. Local bakery, local butchers and a must for tasting the Black Pudding. It's the best.
Lews Castle an iconic feature of the town with in-built museum. Several Harris Tweed shops, a couple of jewellery shops. Boots the chemist, Superdrug, Peacocks and The Original Factory Shop based in the Co-Op supermarket. What a wonderfully scenic and historic island.
What a wonderfully scenic and historic island. Amazingly friendly people who were genuinely interested in talking to you and promoting their island. A new experience around every corner from art to century old history. Make sure you go to the bridge to nowhere and walk up the track for an amazing view. Visit the distillery in Tarbert and travel on to Rodel for some great sandy beaches.

We used the local bus service for getting around, frequency was good with a late evening service which allowed us to eat out in Stornoway in the evenings. The castle, its grounds and the museum were well worth a visit and we found some very nice shops selling local products. A fair range of eating venues, all of which we tried being very good. We had booked 3 trips with Hebridean Isle Tours which enabled us to see all around the isles of Harris and Lewis, often going off the beaten track, scenery was stunning and our guide was extremely knowledgable, informative and friendly whilst being professional. An excellent way to get around with no problems. Everyone we met was very friendly and helpful. Loved our stay and hope to be back again.

Town was disappointing. Not scenic.
Town was disappointing. Not scenic. Little in the way of quality restaurants. Sunday sabbath brings the town to a close.
However as a base for exploring Lewis which is very scenic and interesting it is excellent.

Stornoway is a bit run down and not very pretty.
Stornoway is a bit run down and not very pretty.
But it has all the shops and restaurants and the ferry, so makes it a good place to stay for convenience.
But there are much prettier places on Lewis…
We ate at HS-1 restaurant twice and would highly recommend.

Very easy place to navigate.
Very easy place to navigate. Plenty of interesting and beautiful day trips. It's fun taking the ferry across from the mainland, seeing the dolphins. Most things are closed on the Outer Hebrides on Sunday, but it's rather delightful to have a quiet day appreciating nature , visiting old churches.

I have stayed in the hotel several times for work reasons connected to family - the refurbished rooms are lovely, a good size, very comfortable with tweed furnishings and modern, well-designed bathrooms. Initially I was given one of the older rooms but the kind receptionist swopped for one of the newer rooms I had on my last visit - this made a big difference as the view was pleasant and the room light and airy. There is a good choice of cooked breakfast and the staff are pleasant. It is expensive but choice in Stornoway is limited.
Very homely & hospitable guest house. The owners are very welcoming, and everything that you might need is available. The room was clean and very comfortable. Breakfast is cooked to order and was very good. You get a key for the outside door should you wish to stay out later in the evening than 10pm. A large Tesco store is nearby for any and all foodstuffs that you may require. The main CalMac ferry terminal is across the road. Stornoway Airport is only 8 minutes' drive away.
This is a small [two-roomed] self-catering house in the more industrial quarter of Stornoway. The house is comfortable and very well equipped. Parking is directly outside the front door. The property is within easy walking distance of Stornoway shops [the Tescos supermarket] and the town centre. You do need to know that almost everything is closed on Sundays..
