Stoke House Bed and Breakfast, hotel in Shirwell

Situated in the rural, picturesque hamlet of Stoke Rivers, the Stoke House Bed and Breakfast has great views of the Devon countryside.

I was on a LEJOG bike trip and this was a great stop. The owners could not have been more helpful. We turned up on our bikes after over 50 miles in the rain but absolutely no problem getting into the house and room to get changed and get our wet gear dried out. Our bikes were stored safely in the garage and we got eBikes charged up over night no problem. Room was great and breakfast was great!

Shirwell village is a short drive from the cottage we stayed...

Shirwell village is a short drive from the cottage we stayed in. It’s a pretty village has no shops or other amenities apart from the church which we attended on Sunday and had an amazingly warm welcome from very friendly people. The nearest shops are in Barnstaple, ten mins drive - although currently plagued by roadworks. Beaches are about 20 mins away but are well worth a visit - Saunton especially good for dogs as they are allowed all year round.

We chose Heather cottage for its location.

We chose Heather cottage for its location. A short drive along pretty country lanes to a farm where our granddaughter lives and it ticked all the boxes in our opinion. Nice and quiet, quaint and comfortable. Just as we hoped it would be and we would stay there again.

Shirwell is a quiet little village in the bottom of a valley...

Shirwell is a quiet little village in the bottom of a valley in North Devon and offer everything what such a place can offer and more! There are many attractions around like Tarka trail, coastal path, beaches, good waves for surfing, National Trust places, gardens, castles, rolling hills and I could go on. So if you like mother nature, you will like the place! For great views and atmosphere go to Ilfracombe yacht club, before 8pm non members are welcomed as well. You can choose between seeview from the roof terrace or harbour view from the bar, I mean it can't get any better!
