Meadowside Caravan Hire Haven Kent Coast, hotel in Sheerness

Meadowside Caravan Hire Haven Kent Coast, a property with a bar, is located in Rochester, 16 km from Rochester Castle, 18 km from Chatham Train Station, as well as 18 km from Historic Chatham...

I loved this caravan, it had so much available, lots of kitchen items such as pans, trays, cutlery and plates for kids too! There was also washing up liquid, tea towels and cleaning stuff. There was also bedding and bath towels. There is already hand wash and toilet rolls there. There is also games for kids under the tv. The TV is really easy to use and lots of channels. There is a really nice fireplace in the living room. There are individual switches for heaters in the bedrooms and bathroom. Make sure to turn them on when cold as it is nippy in the morning. Great communication from the owner/manager too, thank you! The key safe is really good and needs a 9 digit number you get on the day of the booking. It was so easy to use. It's so hard to pick 4 photos! I took loads. We arrived late so some photos are at nighttime. No issues in the day time though! The haven sight it lovely too, lots to do. You can get passes if your stay 3 days or more.

Plenty of nice clean beaches with most of the time ample parking however from Friday eve its gets very very busy with camper vans taking up every free spot they could find regardless of where it was! The rest of the island is full of Caravan/mobile home holiday parks, some of them massive... The towns of Sheerness was "tired" and looked run down, Minster was cleaner and more "modern" Queenborough had a nice harbour and Leysdown had a small town (full of amusement arcades) but nice beaches All looked clean, had tidy streets, clean beaches (nostly pebbles) and neat well prepared sea fronts/beach access and car parking and the odd smattering of places to eat/take out food.

My stay at the Royal Hotel was not planned.

My stay at the Royal Hotel was not planned. I needed access to the docks the next day and so the Royal was the only option I had. Sheerness is not the most affluent of places, the same of which can be said for most old British seaside towns. It’s been hard, and that’s reflected in the facilities locally. There are far worse places and sheerness still has things to offer, but you’re unlikely to stay long. So, hotels like the Royal find it hard to upgrade and offer a modern facility

I lived here many many years ago and this was the first time going back since I left, so bit of a nostalgia trip. Alot of things have changed, some good some not so good, but I can see how they are trying to improve areas around the island. it was really nice to go back to my childhood areas and places I lived and used to go to and see what has changed. I enjoyed walking along the sea front as I used to do, so peaceful. I had some wonderful times when I lived on the island and it was really nice to experience it all again.

Having grown up nearby, I used to visit Sheerness as a child...

Having grown up nearby, I used to visit Sheerness as a child and have returned continuously for various reasons but, not for the right reasons through my life. Sheerness is slowly disappearing. Many shops in the High Street have closed and the food options are not so good. The seafront is bleak though there is a small seating area on the promenade with painted children's games on the ground. The boating lake has been converted into a children's play area and like everywhere you look, graffiti-ed by children let go by parents who don't care... The smell of fried food is never far away with the drive thru 'McShizer' a stones throw away. Even the food in the local Wetherspoons is below the national standard you would find in any other Wetherspoons plus, it is dirty and run down. There is a Tesco Superstore which is disappointing considering I use Tesco all over the country. You will notice the price difference compared to other Tesco stores. If you know Naples well, you could compare it with Sheerness for only the amount of litter and debris throughout the town centre. Though, I doubt the Mafia has anything to do with Swale Borough Councils refuge collections or street cleaning in Sheerness.

Travelled for a birthday party and the welcome when we arrived was one of the best I have experienced. Very quiet location but close enough to where we were going. Comfortable room and the breakfast options were more than I have ever seen. Great host and comfortable room.

Sheerness is an old seaside town, which really says it all.

Sheerness is an old seaside town, which really says it all. If you like beaches, coin machines, High St shops it's the place for you. Lovely cliff walks outside of the town, with Leysdown just a short drive away, again, full of the old fashioned seaside trates. Plenty of places to eat / drink, loads of parking at reasonable cost
