Returned to Shaldon for a short break as we loved it previously having stayed for a week 6 years ago . Great traditional fishing village with pubs , restaurants , local amenities , etc. Ate at The Clipper Cafe and The London Inn (Owner Tim is a great host and very knowledgeable about the area and the Spirits he sells in his pub) Narrow streets and parking can be tricky .

Lovely place to visit with good beach for dog walking and watching the boats and fishermen. The village is pretty with good amenities - great bakery, butcher's shop and convenience store. Plenty of places to eat and drink. Would recommend Cafe-ODE, the Clipper Cafe and The Ferry Boat Inn ( a great pub). Found food at The London (incredibly salty Beef Stroganof and awful deep fried seafood platter) and The Ness ( overcooked dry steak pie) very, very disappointing, though service in both places was good.

Shaldon and the area itself is truly beautiful and very picturesque.being not far from the sea,and situated on the side of the estuary,it is a truly beautiful place to be,with amazing scenery, and it looks perfect for those who like to walk and explore.viewing teignmouth at dawn and at night really made it feel very*"chocolate boxy" in appearance. And with dawlish, and dawlish Warren one side(very nice),and Torquay/Paignton and the "English Riviera" the other side, you really can't go wrong and could do far worse than to base yourself at or near shaldon and come to this beautiful part of the country and county of Devon.Just choose your accommodation wisely, and what suits you personally best, for your own needs, and for the length of your stay,as there are LOTS to choose from.A word of warning though, for those not so "sure" on their feet,or incapable of walking very far, some of the area, and towns will, and,do,have parts that,by the nature of this naturally pretty area and coastline, are very"uphill and down dale" and quiet steep and hilly!!.but,NOT ALL,so,please,DONT let that put you off completely, especially if your mobile and or have a car or your own transport,as,you would be missing out!!.do yourself a favour, and visit the county of Devon, and this lovely little corner of it too, trust me,you won't be disappointed!,and it could start a love affair that never ends and just goes on for years to come!👍😁...

Shaldon was lovely, beautiful views, couldn't fault the location at all. Although, I was a little conflicted on wether to even stay or not once we arrived. The caravan wasn't clean, looked as though it was just given a wipe, that's it. Crumbs still, hairs etc and i dont mean I looked for the single hair that could have been missed, this was as if it hadn't been hoovered. The Tv wasn't screwed to the stand so was just loose. It fell on my wrist as I moved it back from the edge, could imagine it would have banged my child on the head had they touched - as they do! The TV was replaced and the caravan recleaned. But his wasn't a great start. The shower had mould all around the rim of the shower base, which was also coming away from the wall. The shop wasn't stocked great so we went to the Lidl over the bridge. The restaurant was on the river side - Beautiful! But the food wasn't great, I ended up poorly and so did my son. The ice cream wasn't kept apart (vegan and dairy) no direct worry for me, but the lady dropped the scoop of dairy into the non dairy and just picked around it. If you have a milk allergy, this wouldn't be safe! The hand wash wasn't filled once in our week long stay in the bar toilets, one had very little in on day of arrival, which by our last day was spitting out a few bubbles. None of the hand sanitisers had anything in. The entertainment was great, the team were lovely. Pool was great size, not too cold so was good for the children. Overall we had a good stay BUT saying that there were a lot of things I think could have been done better. Just all seemed quite slack.

Great entertainment in the evenings, as mostly down the beach in day time. Food in restaurant okay, but tad dear. Teignmouth was great to visit, as Dawlish. Walked the dogs down to Shaldon beach, so pretty easy to get around. In the car, we found roads a bit narrow, but they were there first!

Very peaceful. Beautiful views of River Teign and Estuary. Nice walks nearby. Good facilities. Roads around Shaldon and some of the drivers on them were the only drawback - narrow roads and drivers (a minority of) inconsiderate.

The location is great if you want to be in the countryside. (If you expect lots to do on your doorstep go for a City break). This quirky building is at the end of a lane with views over fields and towards Teignmouth. The Alpacas are entertaining to watch and if you like walking there are plenty of beautiful views to take in over the back lanes of Ringmore. Facilities are spacious and the kitchen very well equipped.

So many thoughtful touches - milk, butter and water in the fridge, bread and jams provided for breakfast, plus tea/coffee/chocolate, biscuits and snacks. Pretty patio/garden area. Good lighting, high quality furniture and fittings. Spotlessly clean. And the owners, who live upstairs, met us as we arrived and were kind and gracious. Would recommend without hesitation.

We had an enjoyable 2 night stay at the cottage. Superb location, very close to the village store and heart of the village. Key collection was easy. The property is very clean and well appointed, we felt like we were at home. The beds were super comfy too. We walked to 'The Ness' pub for an evening meal one night - great food and views!

This is an ideal seaside village for those going back in time. Serene. Great walks and the boat shuttle across to the nearby village was easy and fun. Parking is a nightmare for everyone in the village... its just the location and tiny, tiny streets. We just enjoyed the layback attitude and serenity.

Super views, good facilities, friendly staff, safe pool area- monitored booking so not too full. Good entertainment, fully stocked shop on site. Lovely pizzeria/waffle shop. Boathouse pub lovely in the evening, but an immense amount of midges and an ant problem - but the pub itself was good.

We loved the location within the village and the quirkiness of the cottage. The kitchen was well equipped for self catering, however the cottage is perfectly situated for the exceptional eateries within the village, especially the fish and chip shop, and The London Inn.

Very nice, fully equipped modern cottage. Comfortable accommodation for 5-6 people. Very quiet (practically zero traffic on the narrow, adjacent road). Nicely kept garden and outdoors seating area. The ideal base for exploring beautiful South Devon.
