Fabulous property with the best beds so far in our trip (apparently the owner had the mattresses shipped in from Ireland).
The woodworking inside is extravagant... about a half mile walk from the ferry, but well worth it

We were very impressed when we arrived on Saturday to find that the property was so spacious and very bright. it was really well decorated and nicely furnished, extremely comfortable and everything in it was absolutely immaculately clean , including all the kitchen utensils .
We enjoyed the beautiful views over the castle and the fact that it was so well situated right in the heart of the town, surrounded in good cafes and shops, very handy!
On the eastern coast of western Scotland’s Cowal peninsula, The Colintraive enjoys a peaceful village location and has its own pub and restaurant serving local specialties.

I've been coming to Rothesay since 1977, I have a love that will endure forever with Bute. I suppose only thing they need is a Cinema/theatre. Once the Pavillion is fully renovated will definitely attract more visitors

Truly excellent place to visit especially for history buffs, with midget submarines in WW2, to Scotlands first flight by a blacksmith no less, to all the hidden gems of coastline, views. Mount Steuart would take several days to fully explore but a stunning georgian house. With some wonderful cafe's throughout the island, some even more amazing hostelries to dine at It's a place that you will want to return to time and time again.

There's some lovely walks and beaches on Bute, and if you don’t want to do a hike, the beaches and shores are accessible by good public transport links, or bike hire is available. It is a small island so easy to explore, but check bus times as service ends early in the evening.
There are some good shops in Rothesay and nice cafes, although dining options are limited in the evening. There’s a putting green and crazy gold at the front and you can stroll along the promenades. The castle has re-opened and is worth a visit.

You can access Rothesay & The isle of bute travelling with Caledonian Mcbrayne Ferries, from Wemyss Bay. You can access Wemyss Bay from Glasgow City Centre by a direct bus service - bus 906 operated by McGills. The ferry service between Wemyss and Rothesay runs daily at a hourly service. It's a lovely ferry crossing too, takes around 35min.
Now in Rothesay, there is plenty to do. Rothesay is a charming small town with a small amount of decent shops & eateries. There is also Rothesay Castle, located in the centre of the town which is well worth visiting.
You can access most of the island using the bus company called west coast motors. A 24hr Adult Bus Day Ticket is only £4.50.
When I was on the island I used Bus Service 490, Rhubodach To Ettrick Bay Via Rothesay. Its a very scenic Bus journey indeed.
If you are into your hiking & walking, Ettrick Bay & Rhubodach at the north of the island are fabulous places for a relaxing walk.
Thankyou for reading my review ☺️.

Beautiful landscape, amazing locals and the city has everything one might need: food, postal office, drinks, a variety of accommodations, lovely port and the travel from Wemyss Bay with the boat was magical.
Located on the waterfront of the beautiful isle of Bute, this place isn't much to look at from the outside, but it's a real treat once you're inside. Lovingly and amazingly themed in 1960s USA, it is full of fun and interesting memorabilia. But the hotel is great for so much more - thoughtfully appointed rooms and a very comfortable bed, a diner with genuinely tasty burgers, kindly and friendly staff. Great value for money. See if you can get a room at the front.
Room was very comfortable and supplied with tea/coffee and biscuits, slippers are also supplied,we had booked the room with the balcony but it is in fact a large private terrace with plenty seats and a table with amazing views, the ferry terminal is 2 minutes walk away as is the town centre, the owners David and Amy are lovely and the freshly cooked breakfast in the morning was delicious using fresh local produce, highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return.
The view of the house and the room stood out. On top of a hill in the heart of the town of Rothesay in a traditional gorgeous big house is a thrill.
The shower was excellent in a bathroom with a variety of marble, the size of your room. In between was a kind of pantry for coffee and tea, with a microwave.
Staff was very friendly and willing to help you out for finding a place to have dinner. Parking on top of the hill next to the house is very useful.
Everything. The location was perfect, right across from the water, and within walking distance to Rothesay. The house itself is roomy and has everything you could want. The grounds are spacious and Carolynn and John encourage you to play on the front lawn with the various garden games they provide in the shed next to the house. They are very kind and provide little touches such as milk and biscuits, shampoo and conditioner and even disposable barbecues.
Breakfast was cooked to order, with a good choice. My wife likes fresh fruit each morning and this was available. Our room was spacious; the bed was very comfortable; en-suite facilities were excellent. Tea & Coffee supplied in the room for us to use when we wished was most welcome. The hotel is beautifully situated on the waterfront with only a 5-minute walk into Rothesay along a nice palm-tree-lined promenade - what is there not to like about that?
We stay on Bute often visiting family and have stayed at a number of flats and hotels we found this property one of the best we have stayed in. The bathroom had recently been upgraded including a new shower which was very good. The kitchen was well equipped with a washer, oven & dishwasher (which we never used but did appreciate) The apartment was lovely and warm with views that are breathtaking!
Went to Rothesay and stayed at the Cadillac Kustomz Hotel for 3 nights. The hotel was a rock-a-billy american diner themed hotel, and decorated to a high standard. The rooms were all themed the same as the hotel and had everything supplied for your comfort. Food was good and the owner and staff were very welcoming! Loved our stay!
The hotel was ideal for our visit to Rothesay , really central. The room’s were spotless, comfortable and very cosy . we had a great view of Rothesay bay from our rooms . The staff were very friendly and all very helpful . The breakfast was lovely the waitress and the chef went out of there way to accommodate us .
The views were amazing, breakfast was delicious, the 50s decor was outstanding in its detail, the room and bathroom were spotless and the bathroom had the facilities equal to a 4 star hotel. Finally, the host was charming and very helpful and made our stay very relaxing.
A lovely hotel, kristine the owner was very welcoming and helpful.
My room was just what I needed, it was absolutely amazing. A lovely shower & bathroom/comfy bed.
The breakfast was extremely tasty also.
I liked everything about the hotel. The waterfront view from our room was lovely. The staff were very helpful. The breakfasts were more than adequate in addition to being delicious.
Central location, room was beautiful overlooking the bay, Kristine and her staff were excellent. We would definitely recommend it and stay again if/when we are back in Rothesay.
Beautiful hotel, very pet friendly which was lovely. Super comfy beds. Room was spotless clean, lovely toiletries and well stocked tea tray. Would go back no problem.
The location is/was excellent, having visited Rothesay many many times I knew the Hotel and its location, convenient for Town Centre and various attractions
Great location only a few minutes walk to ferry terminal and town centre of Rothesay. Nice view looking out over the sea and apartment was clean and tidy.
