I was visiting family so that was good, It has tried to be a cafe society and there are some nice small cafe's and artisan bars but the people are depressing, seem happy to walk round eating burgers and drinking cans of beer. like all towns lots of empty properties, charity shops etc.
Will be good when the Harris museum opens again next year.

I only visit when I have to, visiting family.
I only visit when I have to, visiting family. I have made several trips over four years. First impression was of a grubby town, streets and public spaces covered in litter. Sprawling industrial parks on the outskirts. Ubiquitous pavement parking makes it dangerous pulling out of residential side streets. I have found little of cultural interest to do in the city, apart from the museum, which has been closed for refurbishment. No decent venues for live music or theatre that I am aware of. Easy enough to get a basic and pleasant meal from the usual restaurant chains. I haven't made much attempt to research into more interesting venues for eating out, apart from RK dining which is great for vegetarian/Asian takeaways. I think there is a good range of different cuisines if you look for it. I guess the University is Preston's saving grace from being a purely industrial town. It is reasonably easy to navigate the city centre on foot or by car, and regular buses. It does have a good number of well maintained and accessible public parks, and a good walking route via the Guild wheel. Brockholes is a good place for nature, although close to a motorway. A range of pleasant areas of Lancashire countryside are a short drive outside city.

Preston is a lovely town.
Preston is a lovely town. I visit because I have close family there, but I wouldn't say it is a hub for tourists. There are fantastic attractions, like Hoghton Tower, and the downtown area is very quaint. When with family, we usually go to a great fairly local pub or other restaurant for lunch/dinner, and there are plenty of those with great food and ambiance. I love going for walks in the local area.

Love this area at Barton and surrounding areas of it.
Love this area at Barton and surrounding areas of it.
We love the Barton Grange garden centre and the lovely resteraunts in the pubs in the local area are really friendly.
The spa facilities at barton Manor are really good and ecelant friendly staff there too.
Room was very nice and clean, it was very hot and the temperature control could only be put down to 18c so it was little uncomfortable.
The windows could only be opened a little for safety reasons and this did help a little.
The bed was very comfy and the buffet breakfast was very good, lots of choice of cooked or continental.
Good parking nearby at the bus station which was much cheaper than the hotel parking which was full anyway!
Recommended by Booking.com when original booking elsewhere was cancelled day before visit (Thanks for nothing, Stanley Street Apartments!) I am glad they did tho. Lovely, spotless house. Quiet area, despite being on edge of city centre. 4 bedrooms, double bed in 3 and a smaller single. Everything you'd need for a stay, even fresh milk in fridge. Free WiFi and Amazon TV also. Will use again when next in Preston.
Loved the layout. Bed, armchair, table and chair, kitchenette with fridge, microwave. toaster, kettle, dishes, pots, cutlery, dishes, 2 ringed hob. Bathroom with good sized shower. Loved the decor. Bed the same as my own at home. Local shop just down the street. Short walk to town. Near train station. Our granddaughter is at University in Preston so we will be booking The Myriad the next time we visit her.
The room was amazing , very modern and clean .We stayed in the " reflection suite " which was so comfy and the bathroom just brilliant . The staff were very friendly and nothing was a problem . They made a fuss over our baby girl which was nice . Even put a birthday balloon in our room for my wife . Location amazing , 2 mins from the train station and in Preston city center . We cant wait to go again .
From the second I arrived, I was greated by a super friendly owner. My room was a single room and was absolutely perfect for me. Tea and coffee facilities, and the bathroom were lovely. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choices, and very fast service. As a lone person needing an overnight stay, this hotel was spot on. Would definitely recommend and use again. Thank you :-)
The new large Costa coffee and Morrison's local just over the road. Hotel quiet but still easy access to Blackpool/Preston area.
Attached bar/ restaurant quite good next door definitely not souless like a Travelodge. Staff great. Food and drink pretty good and not expensive. Other various eating options close to hotel.
Family room great size.
All in all superb value
Very friendly welcome, and my bicycle was kept safe in the house. The room was large, clean and very comfortable with tasteful decoration. And the windows opened wide which was great in the heat (and rare for a hotel!!).
On a main road but not noisy. Great breakfast. Short walk into the centre of Preston. I would return if in Preston again.
Very easy check in & check out, beautiful place with welcoming rooms, and check-out isnt until 11am so you dont have to get up too early hahaha. This was our third time staying here, I think it’s our go-to hotel when staying in Preston, parking also feels very secure. The staff are always really helpful and friendly too.
The hotel was easy to find, had ample parking and was a short walking distance from the city centre. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The breakfast was a standard continental breakfast and hot food with a good selection that should appease most palettes.
The staff were pleasant and helpful.
Exceptionally friendly, helpful staff. Very good buffet breakfast. Spacious, comfortable room. I always particularly appreciate a bathroom with a bath as well as a shower. Very good location - Preston station just a few minutes' walk away. Ideal for solo traveler/short stay.
Great place, location was spot on. Not too far from Preston Town and the train station. The staff were lovely and welcoming. The room was cosey and clean, and everything we needed with a mini bar and breakfast for me and my partner to use. Would recommend to others.
The staff were friendly and very welcoming. Location was a bit strange being practically an industrial estate but quiet and didn't effect the stay. Would use again for a cheap hotel but would go for breakfast somewhere else
Booking.com option said 'able to reschedule if your plans change' work cancelled in Preston for the date of my stay.
I messaged the property 3 times and requested to reschedule, no reply, no reschedule, paid in full
The hotel is very conveniently sited for access to the M6. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and comfortable and had a pleasant view out over the River Lune. Breakfast was very good.
room was good value, hotel is a little old fashioned, staff where very good especially the manageress. breakfast was ok but could have been better - for example cappuccino and a wider variety of food/juice
The location
Breakfast was exceptionally hot amazing ,every hotel we have ever stayed in it was served near cold, we would most certainly stay here again in the very near future whilst visiting friends
