Struan House, hotel in Portgordon

Offering sea views, Struan House is an accommodation set in Buckie, 27 km from Elgin Cathedral and 41 km from Huntly Castle.

We ordered kippers ahead of time and we had it with a fried egg, coffee, yogurt, fruit, toast etc etc I think we could have asked for the moon!! Two places I highly recommend: pic of Duffhouse near Banff and Spey Bay sculpture and amazing cafe desserts!! Beautiful day. 20 above. Fish Fry for more chips and fish and McDuff Harbour got pic for my watercolour inspiration, Elgin to Johnson’s Woolens factory 1797 did tour well worth 7.50 pounds.

    A lovely quiet village.

A lovely quiet village. That is located well for sightseeing in the area. There isn't any where to shop or eat in the village, but there's plenty of places nearby where you can go to get food. It's very pesceful, which lends itself to a good nights sleep.

Portgordon has the (delightful) air of being quite out of the way, but even by public transport it would have been quite accessible, as would other fascinating places around. It is very quiet. It is a shame for the village that the only shop recently closed. There is one pub - the Lennox. Reviewed elsewhere it gives the impression of an unprepossessing exterior hiding a warm heart; and I would agree with that.
