First class hotel. Friendly helpful staff, beautiful, comfortable room and excellent food. We were driving south from Scotland to Liverpool to join a cruise ship, unfortunately due to bad weather conditions our itinerary was changed and we elected not to sail. I rang the hotel on our way back north and were delighted that they were able to give us the same room. Would definitely stay at Roundthorn again.

we visited Penrith as a bit of nostalgia as we used to go frequently in the past. The town was very quiet although we found a very good restaurant, GRANTS, for a delicious evening meal. It used to be a bustling market town which seems to have lost its heart . Maybe internet shopping has affected the economy of the town as is the case in many towns. It is perhaps a useful place to stay to explore the surrounding area which remains beautiful.

We used The Station Hotel as a stop off for a day trip to Scotland and could have stayed longer in Penrith as we barely took a look around. We had some dramas and it is credit to staff and management that they were able to sort booking confusions quickly and professionally. Thanks folks.

Penrith as a great place to base yourself for a stay in the Lake District. It's quieter than the more popular and populous towns of Keswick and Windermere - except in March when it hosts the World Marmalade Festival and, according to Karen and Ali from Blue Swallow Guesthouse, the town is decorated with Paddington Bears and Honey Pots. They even boast having one of the champion marmalade makers stay with them on an annual basis.

Free parking and a bar on site were positives as was the central location.
The advert said that it was a larger than average room but including the bathroom it was no more than 13ft by 8 ft. There was no table or chairs so not a pleasant area to spend any time. The bottom of the outside of the shower had ingrained dirt.

Penrith is a lovely town.
Penrith is a lovely town. It has all the facilities you need such as supermarkets, bars and restaurants. I was impressed with the cleanliness too. It is an ideal place to stay in to explore The Lakes as well as castles nearby.
A traditional old hotel perfectly situated in the middle of Penrith. Good well furnished room, very clean and excellent bed. Good variety of breakfast, evening meal was very good too, typical pub food but nicely done. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Great character to this hotel, with lots of old photographs of the area on the walls. Afterwards you feel you've stayed somewhere memorable.but not too expensive. They are obviously upgrading corridors and bedrooms.
Welcoming and helpful without being intrusive. Comfortable spacious room with seats as well as beds (unlike YHA). Decent sprung mattresses without rubbery covers (again unlike YHA). Clean well-designed kitchen. Not far from town centre yet in a quiet area. Dry room and bike storage (even though I didn't need these on this occasion). Nice fluffy towels available to hire very cheaply if you don't have your own.
Staff were very helpful as we arrived very late and luckily the staff saw us as they were leaving the hotel and asked us if we needed any help. We explained that we had a booking so they stayed back to open the rooms for us and made sure we were settled. We also had a full English breakfast which was very good with lots of extra toast and tea.
Very happy with our brief stay at Rebel's Hide. Ideally located (for our visit) just outside Penrith in a quiet residential area. It surpassed our expectations and we were very happy with our stay. Good communication and instruction from the hosts. The best recommendation I can give is that we would be happy to stay there again. Many thanks 🙂
This was my second stay at Roundthorn, exceptional service, easy check in and friendly staff throughout.
I had dinner and breakfast the following day, both of excellent quality. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in the Penrith area
The cottage is only a 10 minute drive from Penrith. It's in a quiet area and there's a really nice pub down the road.
The beds are very comfortable, and the cottage is very cosy. Gavin and Wendy are very helpful. Would love to stay again.
This is hands down the best hotel / apartment I have ever stayed in, anywhere. So beautifully laid out. So clean and crisp. Such lovely windows! Perfect location for breaking the journey from the south to Scotland. It's a genuine treat.
A beautiful country hotel in a lovely little village of Stainton. The food was excellent and the staff very welcoming and friendly. Our room was small but we had all we needed, it was clean and comfortable with all amenities provided.
The staff was friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a very nice location with beer garden views on Penrith Castle and 1 min walk from train station from which buses to the lakes depart.
Very friendly staff. Gave great directions to find the hotel carpark in the maze of one way streets in Penrith. Lovely room, recently refurbished. Huge bathroom. Nothing too much trouble. Food delicious. Would stay again.
We were a group of 5 friends staying for 3nights while going to the nearby festival. Beautiful accomodation, well equipped, lovely and clean. Centrally located for all amenities.
Amazing staff who couldn't help us enough after a day of the coast to coast. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area. The rooms are great and the food was delicious.
Great hotel, rooms, bar & restaurant are great.
Pool & spa added bonus.
Location is good, 10 minute walk into Penrith and 10 minute drive to Pooley bridge.
