Great location, the lodge exceeded our expectations and was private and not overlooked. The food at the restaurant was excellent including the included breakfast. Can’t fault it and we’ll be back soon.

The property was exquisite, full of character and lots of history, perfect getaway for me, my wife and our son. My wife climbed Snowdon and was expecting a rough night sleep from the aches and pains, but the bed was sublime and we both ended up have the best sleep we’d had in about 10 years!

Penmachno is a tiny village set in a beautiful glaciated valley. Full of the historic legacy of the slate industry and modern sheep farming. We enjoyed walking the Slate Trail from Penmachno to Betws-y-Coed - a 20km whole day trip for able hikers. We parked in the church car park (giving a donation), morning coffee at Conwy Falls, lunch in Betws-y-Coed. Celebratory beers from Londis on our return.

Penmachno itself is a quiet village set in a valley at the base of several mountains. There's not much to do in Penmachno itself but it is well located for getting to lots of tourist places and attractions, particularly the Zip Wire forest sites, underground adventures and waterfalls. There's also the superb Conwy Cafe at the junction with the A5 and the road to Penmachno.
