Lovely couple that runs the manor! Daily breakfast with the option for a delicious hot breakfast (we got this both morning’s and it was delicious!). Next to the dining table are kid toys and a kid table, which is amazing for us since our kids were done eating before us and they could pop down and play with the toys. There were also two dogs Lola and Freddy, that are lovely dogs. They do not jump or lick, and are just there for cuddles! The hosts provided us with trail hiking recommendations, and the one we did you leave literally from their front door - no driving required! They provided dinner recommendations too - we ended up eating down the road at The Stables and the Welch burger was incredibly good. The room accommodations were clean and lovely. Upon entering we had a tray of snacks and coffees as complimentary. Also complimentary bug spray and sunscreen to go on hikes! All around highly recommend for both couples, and families. ~Patti

Penmachno is a tiny village set in a beautiful glaciated valley. Full of the historic legacy of the slate industry and modern sheep farming. We enjoyed walking the Slate Trail from Penmachno to Betws-y-Coed - a 20km whole day trip for able hikers. We parked in the church car park (giving a donation), morning coffee at Conwy Falls, lunch in Betws-y-Coed. Celebratory beers from Londis on our return.

Penmachno itself is a quiet village set in a valley at the base of several mountains. There's not much to do in Penmachno itself but it is well located for getting to lots of tourist places and attractions, particularly the Zip Wire forest sites, underground adventures and waterfalls. There's also the superb Conwy Cafe at the junction with the A5 and the road to Penmachno.
