The best thing about our stay in Penkridge was the walk into the village for something to eat, we went to the Longridge Inn which was excellent. As already stated on arrival at the Hatherton Hotel we thought we had arrived at the wrong place because it looked completely derilict and not as shown on the Booking doc com website the picture was obviously the one that had been taken when the hotel was thriving.

Hotel was not really in walking distance, we drove to go out for tea, tried to ring a couple of pubs however no answer apart from the boat house lovely pub, staff were friendly, did get a but noisy outside as the drinks were flowing. Near to our hotel was the market which is massive and have anything you are really looking for.

Great stopover in a very pleasant town. Lovely walks around if travelling with pet and hotel itself very pet friendly. Nice touches like fresh milk left in morning at room door and welcome box of handmade biscotti. Use all local produce in restaurant.

The room was comfortable, although a little too warm to begin with but once we turned off the radiator and opened the window as far as we could, it was cooler. Normal basic facilities but ideal for what we wanted ( just a room, somewhere to sleep for the 2 nights). The staff on reception were excellent, very helpful and polite. The restaurant and bar were not open, however the staff said we could order take away in and they provided plates and cutlery. They did the washing up as well. Good value for money. Ideal central location to Penkridge.

We were moved to their sister hotel the Roman Way hotel, therefore we can't review the Stafford South hatherton but the roman way hotel was lovely on entrance but the rooms were clearly outdated and needed cleaning. The bed was a small double. It was suitable to get your head down only. The bar wasn't very clean at all. The dust was thick under the pool table. No one answered the door when we got back after midnight despite being told they had a night porter who would answer the door. The staff we saw seemed friendly though.

The hotel was brilliant, set in very quiet and well kept grounds, chosen for us to be close to the Cannock Chase forest area. The lovely comfortable modern bedrooms were well equipped. We enjoyed breakfast in the golf bar and dinner in the Woodlands restaurant. The gym, sauna and steam room were great facilities. The staff were all so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us.

The staff could not be more attentive and helpful. Room was immaculate and the dinner in the woodlands restaurant was fabulous. Not forgetting the breakfast, equally as good as dinner. A lot of the big hotels could learn of this one, on how to look after there guests. Will be back again when in the area. Many thanks.

Friendly reception. Quiet room. Warm in the hotel and cool in the room which was great for sleep. Value for money. Plenty of parking spaces. Read the reviews and knew there wouldn’t be a bar or breakfast but that was ok.

The bedroom met all our needs. No Meals provided. It looks as if the Hotel has been very nice in the past, everything now very basic, just one man on duty all evening and two cleaners in the morning.
