This is an high end hotel masquerading as a little country inn. The building is beautiful, the room was spectacular, the view was phenomenal, and the staff was so helpful.

Pretty village in the beautiful Cotswolds with a free car park! Lovely old church with 99 yew tree gardens/graveyard. Fantastic village pub “The Falcon”. Recommend walking up Painswick Beacon for 360 panoramic views.

Beautiful, historic Cotswold village with good local facilities and plenty to do and visit in the area, especially when the weather permits walking and outdoor activities. Larger towns nearby (Stroud, Gloucester, Cheltenham) offer supermarkets and additional facilities.

Painswick is a very picturesque village with enough facilities for a short stay. There are limited places to eat but all were worth a visit. It is a good base for ramblers but not suitable for young children. There are camping sites nearby though which would be more child friendly.

A very peaceful Cotswolds village, Falcon Inn was a great place to eat, went there twice. A good place to start a Cotswolds Way walk. I only stayed for a hiking weekend with friends but could have definitely stayed longer - lots of things to see and do within an easy each (one does need a car though).

We ate at the Edgemoor Inn at Edge.
We ate at the Edgemoor Inn at Edge. The food was a good price and excellent with a varied range of food choices. Another time I would love to see the 200 Yew trees in the church yard, and the famous Rococco gardens.

Enjoyed the peace and quiet of the location.
Enjoyed the peace and quiet of the location. We ate in the only three pubs/restaurants - St Michaels Bistro, The Falcon and The Oak and enjoyed the drinks and meals in all - all quite different. Village itself can be walked round very quickly - don't expect any shops to visit but lots of nice walks on offer.
Cottage was beautiful. The hosts had thought of everything. My husband particularly appreciated the coffee machine and pods. There was a fresh loaf, organic butter and fresh eggs in a basket, and some organic milk in the fridge. The garden was really lovely. There was a barbecue too, which we did use. Painswick is a very pretty village and the cottage is situated across from the church and it’s famous 99 Yew trees.
Little shop and a very nice pub within a few yards too. Perfect.
The hut is in the most idyllic location looking over fields and hills it really felt like you were in the middle of nowhere. The hut was very comfortable, the bed was comfy and the duvet was so warm, when we put the fire on it kept the hut warm for a long time. We ate at the Woolpack pub and did the circular walk through Painswick which was a great long walk to fill the day, very much enjoyed coming back to the cosy hut after and sitting outside with a cup of tea!
The challenge is to locate the hotel , hidden in the winding lanes of Painswick, one of the most beautiful of Cotswold villages. Once inside, the staff and decor are warm and charming. Our bed was comfortable, the bathroom roomy and the shower excellent. Dinner in the restaurant was exceptional — the ‘truffle pudding’ to die for. A good breakfast to see you on your way. Can imagine in a colder month it would make a cosy base for invigorating country walks.
Dove Lodge itself and the surrounding gardens were stunning! Having breakfast and looking at the garden in the morning was a particular favourite of mine. It was extremely clean and the hosts (Peter and Judy) were so lovely! Painswick itself is beautiful but definitely need a car as not a lot to do in the area. We took our 6 month cockapoo which the lodge was perfect for. I would 100% recommend this lodge and would love to stay again!!
This quaint hotel tucked into the countryside had the most amazing views of the green hillside. The staff was delightful and amenities offered such as afternoon tea in bed made for a relaxing experience. The drinks and food were incredible! We loved the al Capone and Rosemary Collins! The truffle pudding and lamb among other meals here were delicious. Definitely would recommend and would love to return in the future!
The cottage is perfect! My wife walked in and said, "This is my English country vacation dream come true." Everything was beautiful, incredible views on both sides of the cottage....fantastic location in the Cotswolds. Extremely charming and cozy. We always had parking very close to or directly in front of the entrance. Great experience! Highly recommend!
Situated in the Centre of town, easy walking distance to local restaurants and beautiful ancient churchyard. The host was friendly and accommodating. The room light, airy and comfortable. Pretty courtyard between the front and rear buildings. Excellent breakfast…
We would definitely book again should we be travelling to that area…,
Beautiful house very close to the centre of Painswick.
Breakfast was great - plentiful and delicious. Both a fruit salad and an English cooked breakfast are made to order, daily.
Staff are lovely and can make good recommendations regarding what to see and do, locally.
There is a resident dog, too, called Boo, who is lovely.
We had high expectations based on the reviews and photos and we were disappointed. The staff were great and very welcoming and overall everything was fine, but there’s nothing luxury about the hotel other than the outside facade.
Overall, the stay was fine, but when I come back to the Cotswolds I’ll look for another hotel.
Excellent breakfast and very welcoming staff with very clear understanding of Covid etc rules. Very comfortable room/bed (as ever why so many pillows?!) with a nice honesty fridge bar. Right in the middle of the lovely town of Painswick with good pub and restaurant.
The room and decor is amazing and we loved staying in the Art Deco room. Painswick itself is gorgeous and we really feel like we discovered a gem in a beautiful part of the world. We will definitely recommend to others.
Greg and his partner made us feel very welcome and we’re very generous with their time and help. Their beautiful home was a perfect place to stay and enjoy wonderful Painswick. Greg makes the best scrambled eggs.
Prime location within the queen of the Cotswolds: Painswick. Attractive gardens and views. A plentiful breakfast selection. Helpful staff. Parking within closed gates was very useful
