We stayed about 30 min walk from Paignton centre. Did go into Paignton. Quite busy on the seafront. The pier is mainly a big arcade. We couldn't access to the end of the pier when we went . Didn't go into the shopping centre.
We did get a Chinese take away from Rickshaw Boy and ate it in the car overlooking the sea ( made a change to fish and chips) We spent the day at the Zoo which was well worth it. Saw baby orangutan amongst other animals.
We went to Totnes which is a quirky place full of boutique shops, cafes and had a lovely feel about it.

Paignton has a lovely long beach and is very safe for families ,but the tide comes up to the promenade in places, it is easy to get onto the beach, not completely sandy but still able to make sandcastles. there is lots of activities too crazy golf, kids rollercoaster etc. we ate at the hotel but there are a lot of restuarants to choose from. an awful lot of amusement arcades there. it is flat to walk around, but not too many shops around

The pier and the harbour was great, the side streets with arcades and gift shops and town looked run down and dirty nothing like it used to look years ago.
Paignton has changed so much and not for the better.

Paignton is your typical bucket and spade family holiday with amusement arcades and lots of places to eat. Wonderful beach and promenade with pier. There are many other small beaches within walking distance along the coast path including goodrington sands.
Excellent transport links for trips to Brixham and Torquay plus the famous zoo.

Paignton has a long flat beach, with plenty of gardens and a long promenade. There’s plenty of parking,(to pay)a good range of easily accessible shops from the front, and a local cinema there. The bus and train stations are very handy, and I can throughly recommend the buses, which run every 10 minutes, and gave me free access to Brixham and Torquay.A much easier option than worrying about going in the car,and the difficulties involved in finding a parking space.

Paignton has a long beach, all sandy as far as we could tell (too cold to partake) and a very pleasant esplanade. Main street has too many casiono/slot machines for our taste but also plenty of bars and cafes. Henry's Bar seemed the best with more real ales than the others.
Paignton bus station is a hub for transport to neighbouring towns, such as Totnes and Brixham, and including Exeter and Plymouth further afield. Also a regular train service to Exeter and beyond (Teignmouth and Dawlish especially). Steam trains to KIngswear for Dartmouth on selected days (Note: buy a return ticket even if you plan to only go one way by train as it covers the ferry crossing both ways). Great fish restaurants in Brixham by the harbour.
Breakfast was excellent so much choice to choose from English fry to cereals, fruit and cooked freshly was superb, having a fridge and cool fan in the bedroom for this time of the year in July was excellent!!!
Friendly family run hotel, Molly was nice and cute dogs.
Location is like my second home, where my Grandparents lived in Paignton so I've been visiting Paignton since I was a child of eight years old.
I love the hotel right near the beach, Vue Cinema and town. It has everything here! I'd definitely recommend staying here.
The location of the hotel is absolutely brilliant. Only a short walk from the beach. The hotel itself is a stunning building and there was plenty of parking spaces. The room was cleaned and towels changed on a daily basis. Furthermore, I had broken down on the way to Devon. When I called to say I would be late they were very accommodating in giving me the door pass code and left my room key in the foyer when I arrived. I thank them for this. Very friendly morning staff.
We thoroughly enjoyed our break from start to finish, will recommend to friends and look forward to going back again ourselves. Outstanding sea view from the dining room and large sun terrace. The hotel is slightly dated, but you can clearly see that from photos before you book. We found all staff to be extremely courteous and friendly.
The cost of our stay seemed very reasonable after researching similar hotels, in Devon, prior to booking.
Nice cheap hotel right on the seafront and within easy walking distance into the town. Nothing to do with the hotel, but if you like a curry, then I thoroughly recommend the Nepalese restaurant - very friendly, the chef coming out to have a chat and make sure the food was OK. The "Base Camp Curry (Hot)" is probably the best curry I have had. Now, back to the hotel...
Alan & Trish & Gemma has been very kind in hosting us. They took care of every little detail we mentioned. The breakfast was delicious, and so was the location. Cherry Tree Hotel made us like Paignton a little bit more. Alan & Trish even helped us with local sight seeing recommendations. Thanks, Alan and Trish, for making our stay so wonderful.
Friendly owners, good communication. Room was clean and the front garden is nice. Free parking when hotel not too busy. Located right in the middle of Paignton with easy access to the beach and pier. Visited during Easter holiday and pier attractions were open till 10pm which we could hear from our room however that wasn't an issue.
Lovely comfortable, friendly hotel. Great location for seeing that area of Devon. Both hotel staff and the other residents were so friendly, it was a lovely atmosphere. The beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. We all really enjoyed our stay.
Breakfast was really fine with a large selection of menu to suit all tastes.
The hotel is a family run business, all the staff where very helpful courteous and always on hand to help if needed.
With Covid-19 government guidelines fully followed.
It was extremely clean, superb night's sleep on a really comfy bed, great breakfast, very friendly and and efficient staff, very good quiet position on the seafront, couldn't believe it was 150 yards from all the noise and hub of paignton
The room was large. The cooked breakfast was good. The hotel is near the beach, the train station and the bus station which are ideal for taking a day trip to other towns.
