First, it came with an iron and an ironing board - always a necessity when I've got shirts in my luggage. The staff were very helpful despite a bit of curmudgeonliness on my part over the fact that there was no record of my early check in. Breakfast actually had enough seats and the choice of food was good - a choice of traditional English or Continental styles is much better than one or the other.
Located in the very heart of the city, moments from the city center railway station, Sleeperz Newcastle has countless iconic landmarks steps away from its doorstep.

Fantastic location. The train station and a Metro station are 5 minutes walking. The Castle, the Cathedral and the famous Grey Street with multiple shopping malls, theater, restaurants, pubs, etc. are right next to the hotel. Quayside walk along River Tyne is about 7 minutes walking. St James Stadium is about 15 minutes walking. Very easy to get Uber rides to and from the hotel.
Hotel staff is very courteous and helpful. A decent breakfast is served from 7-11 am.
Rooms are basic, on the smaller side (but not by European standards) but adequate. Storage space is somewhat limited and the safety box is inside the bed frame! Hot water was scorching -hot!
WIFI is super-fast: probably the fastest I've ever experienced in a hotel.
I think it's a nice option for short stay in Newcastle.
Enjoy everything Newcastle has to offer from this classic hotel in the city center.

We’ve stayed here before and had no hesitation in booking again. Perfect location, good value! Nice old historic building, beautiful entry and ground floor amenities.

I know North Shields well, it’s slowly been redeveloping and I’m wondering what will replace the wilko next in the beacon centre. My kids love this place. The fish quay further down the steep hill with plenty of fisheries, and fishing boats. A small beach that can overlook the ocean and sometimes the cruise ship. And the fact you can hop on a ferry that’ll take you into South Shields aswell.

The only negative is the entrance is on a main road at a junction but once inside the flat you are in a lovely calm space. Great for a family holiday and really comfortable to stay in. The area around the flat is well worth exploring. Lots of lovely parks and beautiful terraced streets.

A trip down memory lane, North Shields has changed a lot over the past twenty or thirty years ( as all places do) but there are still little reminders of its history. A walk down the fish quay and onto the beach is refreshing and brings back many memories!
