Wonderful staff and breakfast. The bar/dining area was cozy and great to meet/greet other travelers! Kudos to Stan, the Missus, and Darren. Hopefully the Cross Keys Hotel in Canonbie will achieve National Trust-worthy potential.
A better location right on the Borders, in Liddesdale, I cannot imagine (Hermitage Castle does not have adequate accommodations). ;) I woke up the first morning there with a Borders ballad tune playing in my head (I am NOT making this up). And the history of the place - no comparison - going back to the 1600's, when it was an inn and carriage house on the Edinburgh - Carlisle road. Living history - who were the historical personages that overnighted here?

The village was left rather isolated when the railway closed as it is a long way from the main road and is at first sight very quiet but it has fought back extremely well with lots of signs of community activities and spirit.

Beautiful B&B with fantastic hosts. The location is stunning on the edge of Newcastleton village with a sloped garden down to the river and seating areas looking over it in the garden.
Jayne and Michael were such brilliant hosts, they showed us around when we arrived and brought us a bottle of bubbles to celebrate our honeymoon.
The breakfast is exceptionally good.
There are a few pubs, shop and mountain biking centre in walking distance or a nice countryside drive to a lot of others.
Absolutely perfect! A stunning properly in an ideal location on the river and a short stroll to Newcastleton village centre.
A warm welcome from Michael and Jayne made us feel right at home - lovely people! The property is spotless, bedroom lovely and comfortable. The breakfast was outstanding too - I recommend the Scottish smoked salmon and eggs! If you are looking for a BnB to explore the borders look no further - we will definitely be back.
The location of the property is perfectly situated among such beautiful countryside, it makes it the ideal place to stop and breathe it all in. Additionally the property has a lovely garden in which we relaxed and enjoyed some good company and delicious local foods. I couldn't fault the property or the village and friendly villagers of Newcastleton. What a charming spot for a break.
I visited this place with my family. Kids enjoyed walk around the country side. It’s a beautiful quiet place. Newcastleton Bunk house is fully equipped with all the facilities that we needed during our stay. Kitchen room everything inside the hostel was super clean. Staff & people of this place were friendly and supportive. We enjoyed our trip. Would love to visit again!
Besides the comfortable room and the marvellous location, it was the kindness and hospitality of the owner that really sets this B&B apart from so many others. Sandy did everything that she could to make us feel welcome, with a kindness that we will easily remember. Warmly recommended to all travellers on their way around Newcastleton. Thank you so much, Sandy.
Superb accommodation. The host(s) couldn't have been more helpful. Everything was spot on and the breakfast was amazing. I will definitely stop in again if I'm ever in the area. The walk from the B&B to the local pub was very pleasant too, along the river, and the food there (the Grapes Hotel) was also really good. Top stay all-round
Newcastleton Bunkhouse was a wonderful place to stay, it is lovely and new and has everything you could need. The location is great with local shops and restaurants/cafes nearby and loads to explore in the surrounding area, The staff were extremely friendly too. We would highly recommend it and will definitely be going back.
We can highly recommend this place. We enjoyed our time on and around the beautiful property. The host and hostess were exceptionally helpful and informative. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor seating area near the river. If you are going to the Newcastleton area, this is where you should stay.
Set in a lovely location, a good place to visit lots of places.
The hotel has good-sized rooms, we had a separate bathroom, but there are en-suite rooms, all lovely and clean.
Sandy is so friendly and helpful, and their choice of breakfasts is fabulous. Our full breakfast lasted till tea time.
