Beautiful surroundings; a working farm. Lovely view from our window. Quiet and seemingly isolated yet a short ten minute walk to a picturesque village. Breakfast was outstanding. Our very spacious room was spotlessly clean and ensuite bathroom was 6 star. Huge bath and seperate shower; all looked brand new.

Set in the beautiful bucolic hills the cottage was very comfortable and spacious with a well equipped kitchen. The host Matt and family were amazing and well informed. Everything is set up with practicality and comfort in mind. I arrived having flown in from the USA and driven from LHR to everything being exactly as described including the fantastic welcome hamper. I was there for a wedding near by but will return to stay on the farm next summer with the extended family. Thank you Matt.

Lovely village, would have liked to explore the village and Quantocks a little more but the weather was against us. Nice place to stay for some fantastic rambles and horse riding. We stayed and ate at the Ancient Mariner, very comfortable and amazing food, hospitality and staff.

It's a nice village with a few choices to eat. The main road itself is quite busy during the day and parking spaces are at a minimum. There are many walks to be had and Nether Stowey itself is a good stop off if you are travelling to Cornwall.

We enjoyed every minute at the hotel.
We enjoyed every minute at the hotel. Carol is so friendly and the food is delicious.
All the staff were so friendly and helpful.
The room was ideal and a good size for two retrievers as well.
I only booked a few days before we were due to visit, so lucky to get a room at such short notice!I
Carol opened the pool early in the morning so I had a very invigorating swim which set me up for the rest of the day.
The views are stunning and the gardens are so pretty.
Plenty of room for the dogs to enjoy walking around the grounds.
Definitely be back.
Thank you so much to all the staff at Castle of Comfort xx

Nether Stowey is an ideal location for walking in the Quantock Hills and there are lots of walking maps available.
Being a bird watcher I visited Steart Marshes which is a lovely bird reserve.
In the town here is the Nether Stowy castle which is worth a visit but be aware there is no building just the foundations at the top o a hill but lovely views of the are.

Really depends on personal preference.
Really depends on personal preference. We were on the trail of Coleridge and Wordsworth so for us it was ideal.
Generally the area is scenically varied and beyond magnificent in places, offering excellent walking and biking with close proximity to the north Somerset coast and the county town Taunton.
There is also a rich history and many interesting features to be discovered in the area, of which Culbone Church and Steart Marshes deserve special mention.
We will look forward to returning when opportunity permits.
Our room was the Castle Room and it was amazing, really luxurious and very clean- it even had a coffee maker! Breakfast was delicious, we are both vegetarians and were served homemade bread and veggie choices, different both days and much more interesting than the usual veggie fare. The Old Cider House is ideal for day trips into the Quantocks and we did a lot of walking. Our hosts were friendly and happy to give advice on walks and things to do. Jasper the dog was always ready for cuddles and a happy greeting!
I had a wonderful stay. I had been away all week and was glad to be nearly ready to go home so the warm welcome was appreciated. The hotel and especially the staff continuously exceeded me expectations from the friendly helpful service; the carafe of sherry in my room to the complementary cake and coffee in the lounge. Simply excellent. I would like to thank Emily, Bonny, Carol, Ashley and Juliet (Carol's sister) for taking such good care of me. I will definitely stay again if I am in the area.
I stayed for three nights in the self catering Garden Wing which has it's own little section of patio, kitchen/dining room, living room, bathroom and bedroom. It had everything you would need for a relaxing stay, as I did, or as a base for exploring the walks in the area. I imagine the acre garden would be amazing to sit in when the weather is dryer. The local shop is very much a tardis and very friendly staff, as are the locals of Nether Stowey.
The overall look of the hotel from the outside and it's location. The cosy feel and the friendliness of all the staff.
Complimentary tea and cakes on arrival was very welcome and a lovely touch as was the complimentary cocktail on the first evening . The extra touches in our room,eg sherry ,a bottle of water.A plentiful tray with tea, coffee and hot chocolate and a tea pot too!
There's nothing not to like at The Old House. History is seamlessly blended with updated living. The suite is roomy & well outfitted; fresh flowers a lovely treat! The gardens are a true delight - both flower & vegetable. Hosts serve a delicious breakfast & provide excellent recommendations for things to do & places to eat. We'd definitely stay here again.
Everything about this B&B is just amazing - the location in the stunning Quantock Hills, the fabulous historical room, the beautiful walled garden and the wonderful cooked breakfast. There was so much attention to detail and the hosts were delightful. My husband and I are already planning a much longer stay at The Old House. Highly recommend.
The area around Nether Stowey is particularly beautiful to me, as it should be to anyone with sentience. The hosts were fairly friendly and breakfast was pretty solid. A nice touch was them having a fridge with drinks for sale for guests. There's a restaurant down the road that serves an excellent curry (when they're actually serving food).
The hotel is lovely. A lovely period building that looks great on the inside and out. The setting is amazing, with rolling fields surround the hotel. Breakfast was great, and one of the best things was the staff! They were all incredibly helpful, caring and friendly. Just an excellent stay all round.
The cottage is very comfortable and central in terms of being in the centre of Nether Stowey village and near the Quantock hills and coast. The hosts are very welcoming and thoughtful about the differing heating and bedding needs of our small party. The cottage is well equipped.
The hotel location is perfect for the Quantock Forest in the lovely village of Nether Stowey. It is situated opposite Coleridge Cottage, a National Trust property. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Breakfast was as expected, delicious.
What an amazing little treasure! Great staff, excellent atmosphere, great room for four adults! Fabulous food, WiFi, parking. Would highly recommend this pub lodging and a trip through Nether Stowey!!
The Old House was perfect for a weekend stay. Our room was large and thoughtfully decorated and the host was friendly, helpful, and accommodating throughout our stay.
Great hotel. Very large room. Plenty of parking. Great staff. Meals great.
Have stayed at a number of hotels while in the UK this was best. Would recommend highly.
Huge room and bathroom. Spotless. Plenty of parking in hotel's private carport. New owners went out of their way to make us welcome. Great full English breakfast.
Excellent stay at The Old House. The owners are so lovely. The property was very clean and well maintained. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Thank you!
